Woah. Anyone out there fancy an 7680×4320-pixel display on an 85-inch panel? No pricing info as yet, but I’m confident in saying this is going to be expensive.
You know, that ridiculous 85-inch Sharp Super Hi-Vision TV with 33,177,600 pixels needs some sort of ridiculous content to fill itself out. Thankfully, Sharp made this ridiculous 33MP Super Hi-Vision camera to be the perfect companion to the TV.
Because they have nothing better to do, Sharp went ahead and crammed 33,177,600 pixels into a prototype 85-inch display— a resolution of 7680×4320 with a pixel density of 103ppi—labeled it SUPER HI-VISION and called it a day.
Pioneer’s KURO plasmas were the best TVs money could buy. The problem was that you needed a lot of cash to be able to buy one, and Pioneer sadly pulled out of the TV market back in 2009. And now they’re back in the US and Canada, selling rebadged Sharp LCDs under thePioneer Elite brand. The sad news is that these TVs won’t make it to Australia.
