Three new models have been added to Sennheiser’s 500 series range of headphones, with the HD 518, HD 558 and HD 598 models using the company’s Eargonomic Acoustic Refinement (EAR) technology – shaped baffles which guide the soundwaves further into ears.
Friends don’t let friends use the crappy white earbuds that come with Apple products. But while there are an abundance of affordable headphones of decent quality to replace the apple buds, there aren’t as many options that include the necessary microphone and in-line remote to allow you to make and receive calls on your iPhone. Sennheiser is trying to address this with their recent update to their headphone line-up.
One of the fathers of modern acoustics and founder of speaker/microphone manufacturer Sennheiser, Prof Dr Fritz Sennheiser died on Monday. He was 98 years old.
I remember when I first started working in this industry, one of my first jobs was to review a pair of wireless RF headphones from some low-end Chinese manufacturer. They were terrible. Interference that manifested itself as random bursts of static blasting through the headphones, they showcased both the need to buy better quality, and the shortcomings of RF technology as a wireless audio standard. These new Sennheisers are all digital though, which should mean static is a thing of the past.
