Steve Jobs thinks games made with middleware aren’t so good. Unity CEO David Helgason, whose SDK is used in the creation of plenty of games used in the App Store, disagrees. And he was quite vocal about it yesterday.
Skype just released their open SkypeKit SDK which will allow any device to offer Skype calls, video chat, instant messaging and more. Skypekit offers developers nearly the same tools that Skype uses internally and is designed to work with any internet-connected device with a camera and display. The idea is for developers to create an invisible Skype experience that is fully integrated with its device. And to make sure Skype becomes the pseudo-standard for video calling in the future.
