Australian R18+ Rating For Games By The End Of The Year?

So the Attorneys-General of each state and territory have met today, and Minister for Home Affairs Brendan O’Connor believes that an R18+ classification for games could arrive in a matter of months. All states have agreed in-principle, except NSW who “just need to take it back to cabinet and discuss it”. This would be fantastic news for adult gamers, freedom of choice, Australian censorship, and straight up common sense. More at [Kotaku]

We Will Get Closure On R18+ For Games

Our brother from another server, Mark over at Kotaku, has been all over the recent Mortal Kombat debacle like gratuitous blood splatter in a fatality. And today, he’s at it again, informing us that Home Affairs Minister Brendan O’Connor has thrown down the gauntlet to the Attorneys General should they fail to come to an agreement at the July SCAG meeting.

Through a combination of chance and providence, I’ve spent the past few days in LA with Rockstar Games checking out the amazing Motionscan technology being used for their upcoming detective crime thriller L.A. Noire, while back home Minister for Home Affairs Brendan O’Connor is making announcements about adult games classification. Things are looking good.
