Is That A Moto Q’s Extended Battery In Your Pocket, Or Are You Just Happy To See Me?

Yesterday I was angry with Motorola – when I left home to go to a meeting in the morning, my Motorola Q said it had a full battery. On the train I received a phone call, and after four minutes the phone started beeping at me like a bitter ex-wife that its battery power was dangerously low.

Fortunately I happened to bump into some of the lovely folks at Motorola at a PR event last night and after telling them my plight, they introduced me to the Moto Q’s extended battery.

While they couldn’t tell me the cost (never fear, Gizmodians – I am chasing that up now), they did tell me that it’s available now. I’m also trying to track down some stats on the battery – you know, like talk time and standby – so we can all make an informed decision about whether or not the extra bulk (it adds about 5mm depth to the battery compartment) is worth it.

For me, considering how thin the Q is anyway, I don’t think I’ll mind the 5mm Quasimodo hump for a big boost to battery life. But what about you guys? Would you be interested in a chunky battery for longer talk time on your mobile (even if it’s not the Q)? Let us know in comments. UPDATE: Motorola have informed us that “Motorola is currently offering an extended battery with any purchase of the MOTO Q. This is a limited time offer, while stocks last. Extended battery valued at $44.95″.

First Moto Q9m Unbox and Grope (Mini-Review)

5:00AM August 23, 2007 | Wilson Rothman

I just got my hands on the first Moto Q9m, and after a couple of hours, I’m ready to send it right back. Seriously, if you buy this phone, you are dumb.

For starters, Windows Mobile 6 is a piece of crap. Case in point: I plug in my freakin’ Hotmail account to set up email, and it tells me it can’t do it, and refers me to a web link that I can’t open. I am sure there’s a product manager who will quickly explain to me what I did wrong, and the 17 steps I should memorize in order to do it correctly. But could this possibly be my fault? More »

US Launch Dates for Motorola RAZR 2 and Q9, More

5:14AM August 1, 2007 | Seamus Byrne

Every once in a while the so-called Boy Genius actually nails a rumor or two, so we couldn’t help but pass this one along: He’s soothsaying now that the Motorola RAZR 2 V9 and Motorola Q9 will be rolling out on AT&T on August 24. He also has a bit of (possible) intelligence about some other phones, too.

Boy Genius also hears that the Pantech C810 will debut on September 9, while the Blackberry 8820 might be seen on August 13 or 14. He’s also pegging the AT&T-branded SMT5700 QWERTY smartphone as seeing the light of day on either August 24 or August 28. Of course, these dates are all unconfirmed, speculative, rumor-esque, scuttlebutt. [Boy Genius Report] More »
