Last CES, we wondered where Samsung's superb LED TVs were hiding. Here they are: Three new LED LCD series--all with uber-dark blacks, the high end with 240Hz, and each just over an inch thick. Whoa.

Common thought is to get a big TV. Hell, I want two. But instead, I put a 23-inch set in my livingroom for two months to see what it would be like.
The gadget: The ZVOX 550, the only speaker system we've ever seen designed to hold a 50" flat panel TV while packing a 60W amp, 5.25" sub, and five 2" speakers in one frame.
One would think that a shitty economy = more cheap stuff for us consumers, right? You know, the whole "go out and shop!" brand of problem-solving we've become accustomed to? Not this time.
When it comes to buying an HDTV, you really have three choices: LCD, Plasma and DLP. Each version has pluses and minuses, so my question is: which one(s) did you choose?
With so much financial strife, it sounds insane to splurge on an HDTV now. Good thing there are 40" or bigger sets to be had for under $US900. But which ones don't suck?
To find out, we grabbed five HDTVs you can find on the street for under $US900—some require a little snooping to find that price, but they're out there. We've got four LCDs and one plasma, with four of them were discount brands, while one was from a pretty top name brand. We're looking at a few things: are any sub-$US900 TVs actually watchable? Are any lower-tier brands as good as big name brands? And finally, which TV delivers the most bang for the buck?
Oh boy, this is sad. I hate goodbyes. The Gizmodo Gallery is over, and they just came to pick up the Panasonic 103-inch.
