One of ThinkGeek’s many fantastic April Fool’s products is now becoming real, following the same path as the 8-bit Tie last year. This one, the Personal Soundtrack Shirt, takes a little bit more engineering effort than a tie, so if you’re interested in one you’ll have to put yourself on their notification list. But think of it, being able to blast the Imperial March or Magnificent Seven theme or the Get Smart theme whenever you enter a room? That’s what we call quality. [Think Geek]
The more practical app of this personal radar project is in robot navigation systems—always a good sign when the functional side of something is robots—but it’s small enough to be mounted on a car’s bumpers to help spatially challenged drivers navigate the rollercoaster of parallel parking. (Unless they’ve got a schmancy car that does it for them.) Expect to see a smaller, cuter version with mobile phone integration for Japanese school girls any day now. [Pyro Electro]
If you’re still secretly thinking about getting a Segway but ashamed of having people know you paid that much for a scooter, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has something for you. The KAIST has just invented a Segway-like scooter that does pretty much the same thing as Dean Kamen’s baby.
Called the Hubo-Way, the scooter balances when stopped, turns when leaning, and comes with a free copy of Starcraft 2. Well, not really, but 75% of South Korea just got erections. Yes, including the women. – Jason Chen
