Having built many a PC in my day, I have a tremendous appreciation for cable organization done right. Generally, I think most data centres are organized halfway decently, but there are quite a few examples out there that are truly hideous. The gallery below should provide a little inspiration for anyone with a bag full of zip ties and a desire to keep things neat. In fact, the blend of colours, clean lines and the layouts come together in such a way that it could almost be considered art. However, the image after the break is a completely different story.
The Post-It note is one of those seemingly simple ideas that end up taking off and making a fortune. While there are plenty of higher tech alternatives out there looking to capitalise on Post-it success, there is still something about the classic that keeps people coming back. This Pock-it concept doesn’t look to completely re-invent the Post-it note —it just gives it a basic upgrade with the addition of a convenient little pocket. The folks at 3M should be all over this and get it on the market if you ask me. [Yanko Design] More »

It must be miniature day today at the Giz—maybe because we all feel like getting small this weekend—but this Mini Desktop Filing Cabinet will go perfectly with those diminutive chair models we showed you earlier. There’s a difference, though. This scale model might actually serve a practical purpose; it’s made for business cards, where you can file them away using their included alphabetical index dividers, and then promptly forget about them. Or, you can just be a little more modern and scan them in, and then forget about them as they reside on your database.
If you insist on paper, these two drawers can hold 400 business cards each, and clockwatchers will also like its teeny LCD clock/calendar. Hey, this is perfect for all those TPS reports you’ve been working on. Or, it might be a good prop for your Land of the Giants diorama, and what the heck, it only costs $13.98. – Charlie White

To some, cable management is an issue more troublesome than the current state of our nation. People are freaks when it comes to cables and these Cat Cable Clips could be the perfect gift for that neat freak cat lady who everyone knows. The cats are suction clips that can stick to a variety of objects, organizing and filtering the cables. Seriously, these things are pretty damn cute, but even the fattest cat couldn’t tackle my mess of wires around my workstation. They are $3.99 for a pack of three.

We’ve covered Kangaroom‘s organizers a bit before, but for the uninitiated, they specialize in making organizers that either hide or arrange your cables and gadgets in a neat way.
We’ve got the Cellphone Charging Station, the Phone/PDA Charging Station, the Divided Cord Storage & Organizer, and the Travel Cord Storage & Charger Storage. If we were really anal about keeping things neat and orderly—like our friends over at lifehacker, we’d this is the type of thing we’d stock our houses with. Join us after the jump for our thoughts on each one.
