Last year when Samsung launched its NX100 camera, they also announced that there would be a firmware update coming that would bring support for the innovative i-Function lenses to the NX10 model. That firmware update has just arrived.
Last week, Samsung launched their next mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, the NX100, at a global event in Hong Kong. And after spending a few hours playing with a pre-production version of the hardware, I can comfortably say that the i-Function lens system will open up manual controls to amateurs faster than any other camera on the market.
Samsung announced the NX100 today, and while the new style (which is apparently designed to mimic a drop of dew forming on a leaf or something), may be what sell units, the much more impressive side of the camera is the i-Function lenses, which bring full manual control to the lens of the camera. The good news is that Samsung plan on bringing support for i-Function lenses to the NX10 as well.
After being leaked in an appealing white colourway, Samsung’s NX100 has shown up twice more this week ahead of its slated launch at Photokina later this month. Not much spec can be garnered, except a 2.5x zoom and hotshoe flash.
It’s half a DSLR, half a point-and-shoot, but a whole load of trouble, because Samsung’s NX line is yet another confusing hybrid camera format. This leaked video shows off the rumoured NX100, which you can see in white over on the right here.
