Just so you know, we’re not all completely mind-boggled by the iPad 2 today. Yes, there are alternatives. We’ve posted about it here before, but you could do worse than consider ViewSonic’s ‘we’re not an iPad, we’re a ViewPad’, if you’re still desperate to grab an Android powered tablet under $600.
According to sources who spoke to Digitimes, ASUS subsidiary Pegatron Technology has just received the go-ahead from HTC to build their Android tablet, which is said to be running on one of Nvidia’s Tegra 2 chipsets and will include a touchscreen with 1280×720 resolution, 2GB of RAM and 32GB SSD. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS are also said to be present.
Those of us lusting after certain Android tablets – like the promising Notion Ink Adam – may have to wait longer than expected. According to a SlashGear tipster, they’ll be delayed until spring due to “serious issues” with Nvidia’s Tegra 250 chipset.
It was a badly kept secret, but NVIDIA has just confirmed they’re working on a Tegra 2 chip, which will be out “in the marketplace in 2010,” according to the general manager of NVIDIA.
