My goodness, is there anything more joyless than a social media conference? Well, OK, probably yes if you’re the type of person to take things hyper-literally. But! For the rest of us, Improv Everywhere’s mischievous band of insta-musical revellers couldn’t have picked a better target than Gel 2011.
The Spider-Man musical. It’s cursed! Or at least very poorly conceived. Either way, to get cartoonishly caught up on everything that’s gone tragi-hilariously wrong with Julie Taymor’s über-expensive production of Turn Off the Dark, look no further.

The problem with most Blu-ray discs is that it can be a pain in the backside to rip them and convert them to a file size you can watch on your phone. Some studios address this by sticking a digital copy in the box. Others bundle a DVD copy in there as well. Forget the old Macs Vs PCs rap and its slightly worn-out ilk, this has to be my new fave geek-inspired musical tribute. If only for its Dusk Till Dawn-alike transformation into a slasher gore-fest after a few minutes. Seriously—beating someone to death with a MacBook? Strange stuff. There’s just one flaw taking the shine off its geek status: the iPhone doesn’t have a flash, guys! [YouTube Thanks David!]
