Nintendo’s saying that Wii Sports Resort, a title with the sole purpose of supporting the MotionPlus release, is coming in July. Or, as they could and should have just said, the MotionPlus is coming in July.
Just down that whole shaker of salt right now, please, because some obscure Dutch games retailer has given Nintendo’s press shy MotionPlus attachment a July 10 European release date.
Hold your horses, because after IGN said that Wii MotionPlus was delayed, Nintendo is saying that it is not delayed. Kind of. Sort of. Or something.

According to a recent IGN podcast, Nintendo is having problems in development of Wii MotionPlus. “Hiccups” need fixing.
While Nintendo isn’t talking about Wii MotionPlus, a few developers have been happy to brag about using the technology, implying release dates for the peripheral. And now even Nintendo Power has joined in.
Since the E3 announcement of Wii MotionPlus and WiiSports Resort, Nintendo has been silent as to the new control platform’s development. But according to EA, things are moving ahead as planned.
Invensense, one of the two companies that sold their technology to Nintendo for their Wii MotionPlus Wiimote add-on, has just announced that they’re NOT exclusive to Nintendo and are fielding offers from other companies. One person with the company says, “I can’t get into details about other folks that are interested in this technology, but as you might imagine of course there is more interest out there.” The other company is AiLive, which hasn’t said anything about licensing their tech to anyone else.
Nintendo’s President Iwata, the man who wants US customers to believe that there will be a Wii shortage this Christmas not caused by Nintendo themselves, has just said that they want the Wii MotionPlus to be as cheap as possible because it doesn’t cost too much to manufacture. How cheap? They’re not sure yet. We did the calculations, and if the MotionPlus is is US$15, that’ll bump the Wii up to in between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in terms of “total” pricing. Will you be forced to buy one?
