Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima loves Apple, so it’s fitting that he made somebody create all these Metal Gear Solid iPhone skins. He even made one with his face on it.
If you like Metal Gear you will not be let down by the iPhone game.
newVideoPlayer("/metal_gear_solid_touch_trailer.flv", 500, 354,""); Metal Gear is one of my favourite game franchises of all time, and it’s arguably the biggest making its way to the iPhone. I’m excited, but I don’t know about this trailer.
While Konami’s announcement of Metal Gear Solid for the iPhone is tough to be topped, the company will also be releasing a few of their other big franchises as well, including Silent Hill and DDR.
The awesome custom Metal Gear Solid PS3 created by our supremely talented modder buddy Ramon is back on eBay after its previous buyer didn’t pay up, and it’s just as mind-blowing as it was then: Signed by Hideo Kojima, it’s painted with carbon fibre and midnight black using a digital camouflage technique and has laser-cut stainless steel marquee artwork illuminated by micro LEDs, and comes with a bunch of other rare Metal Gear, uh, gear. Bidding starts at $US300 and 15 percent of the proceeds go to Child’s Play. Go bid! galleryPost('mgs4ebayauct2', 6, ' '); [eBay]
Don’t get me wrong, the limited edition gun-metal grey PS3 was badass and everything, but as you can see, this MGS4 tribute is on an entirely different level. Crafted by Morpheon Mods, the entire console and controller is a combination of carbon fibre and midnight black done in a digital camouflage technique and protected with nine coats of DuPont Chroma clearcoat. If that wasn’t enough, the laser-cut stainless steel marquee artwork is illuminated by 15 white micro LEDs and Hideo Kojima himself was kind enough to autograph it. Oh, and there is a working backwards-compatible 60GB PS3 hidden in there somewhere as well. galleryPost('mgs4ps3', 3, '');
Are you a big Metal Gear Solid 4 fan? Interested in playing around with Solid Snake’s, uh, rubber band gun? Well, a crazy Japanese fan has created a completely metal rubber band gun based on the game, dubbed the Silver Wolf. It even has a laser sight onboard, allowing you to precisely aim at your little brother’s eyeball so you’re sure not to miss. For added realism, dress up in tights, hide under cardboard boxes and get into long-winded, confusing conversations that last for what feels like forever between short periods of action when you actually get to use the damned thing. The Gadget: The official Metal Gear Solid 4 Bluetooth Headset, which takes its design cues from stuff Snake actually wears in the game, like his Solid Eye and that body suit made for sneaking.
Not only are we gigantic fans of the Metal Gear Solid series as a whole (we’re guts deep in the latest saga right now), we’re also big fans of being able to tell time. That’s why this limited edition MGS4 watch, given to preorder sales at UK’s Gamestation, is so damn fantastic. There are only 500 of these Hideo Kojima-endorsed watches in the entire country, which makes us sad. Preorder yours now if you’re a Brit and you like the action stylings of Solid, Liquid, Naked, Solidus and Old Snake. [Gamestation via Kotaku]
No wonder Solid Snake is so grouchy in Metal Gear Solid 4. Sure, the MGS4 Bluetooth headset looks like the most badass one ever, but the sound quality is apparently horrible–like you’ve been kidnapped and gagged with Liquid Ocelot’s underwear. How are you supposed to banter with Roy Campbell while ducking exclamation points if he can’t understand you? I think this officially ruins our Friday. =( [Gadget Madness via PS3Fanboy via Kotaku]
