But if being “that jerk” sounds like fun to you, Latestbuy has the plug mug available now.

Mind you, the mug itself is uglier than Kyle Sandilands’ ego, and will shout out that you’re the kind of tool everybody should steer clear of.

Then there’s the question of what happens if you pull the plug to stop other people using it, then you lose the plug yourself. All of a sudden your $20, ugly-as-sin coffee mug becomes a $20, ugly-as-sin paperweight. And still nobody will like you. Hope you enjoy being lonely…

For $70, you can get a 4-port powerboard that comes with a remote control to remotely kill power to your devices, eliminating power drain. The remote’s got a 50 metre range and can switch off each of the four ports individually, something the Belkin can’t do. The board itself also offers “overload circuit-breaker protection” and “surge and spike protection” although there’s no dollar value guarantee to back that protection up.

I’d definitely use one of these in my home, although I don’t think I’d trust it with my high-end kit… Sometimes it’s worth buying the more expensive option for the peace of mind…

And seriously, why would you? For $200 you can grab a proper flatbed Canon scanner for less than that, or a multifunction printer for just a little bit more. Sure, the Latestbuy model works with both Mac and PCs, scans up to 3600 x 2400 (600 DPI) and doubles as a webcam – but it’s pretty ugly in its design and pricey for what it does. And if you’re really buying a scanner because it can double as a webcam, you should probably sit back and reconsider your technology choices…

Well, maybe not a million, but it probably has a plug for your portable gadget, whatever that may be.

The Power pouch from Latestbuy is a solar panel-packing pouch that incorporates a portable battery and a million different little plugs. You can plug your gadget directly into the sunlight scraping juice pack and charge using the sun, or you can plug your gadget into the included battery, which you conveniently didn’t forget to charge using the solar panel back when it was sunny.

If you do happen to forget to charge the battery though, it can be charged via USB as well.

Included in the charging adapters are:

Mobile phone adaptors for: LG, Motorola, Nokia (thin & standard plug), Samsung, Sony Ericsson (wide & standard plug) and iPhone.

4 mm straight jack for: Sony PSP, Tom Tom GPS, digital cameras, PDAs and two-way radios.

USB female socket for: iPods, MP3 players, PDAs and GPS systems.

Mini-B USB male plug for: charging the portable battery via USB and for connecting other devices that also use a Mini-B USB connection.

And the best part is that unlike the Powertraveller, which offers the same sort of functionality, this thing is cheap. Like $50 cheap. But considering all the free juice you’ll get, that’s a bargain and a half, right?

Aside from the fact that this actually promotes kids to ignore gadget etiquette, considering the speaker is a tiny 2.5cm cube that incorporates a 3.5mm headphone jack and a rechargeable battery (and a USB port to charge it), the sound quality is sure to be something akin to a wailing banshee, and not just when you’re listening to 2DayFM. Not only that, but who wants a one-inch cube bulging from their pants pocket? For the $30 price tag, you could be well on your way to a decent set of portable stereo speakers.
