Last.fm Brings Streaming Music to Xbox Live

Last.fm, the popular online radio site/music tracker/recommendation engine, is set to bring its services to the Xbox. For Gold Xbox Live members, this means free streaming radio from your console. AU: Given that Last.fm pretty much pulled the plug on the Aussie market, I wouldn’t expect to see it on our Xboxes anytime soon.

Last.fm Silences Third-Party Mobile Apps

Hot off an announcement that they’d be charging for radio access outside the US, UK and Germany, Last.fm has said that all non-official mobile clients will be banned. This isn’t going over well.

Farewell Last.FM, We Hardly Knew Thee…

Gizmodo AU

Before you panic, Last.FM hasn’t gone bust and disappeared. They’re still around, still available and still going strong. No, the reason we’re saying goodbye is because they’ve just announced that for all customers outside of the US, UK and Germany, they’re going to be charging a monthly subscription fee of €3.00 per month (about $5.80).

Last.FM Heads To Vodafone Mobile Phones

Gizmodo AU

Vodafone are pushing music over their network like it’s going out of fashion. On top of the MusicStation service, they’re now offering an application that will let you scrobble your music using your Last.fm account. At the moment it’s limited to a number of Nokia handsets (N95, N96, N78 and 6210), and you need to download a special app from Last.fm’s website, but Voda are promising more handset compatibility is on the way. Even cooler – if you’re a millionaire in Germany – is that you can purchase tracks from Vodafone’s online store directly from the app, which is great if you stumple across a song you really enjoy. At the moment that’s Germany only, but have no doubt that we’ll see it in Australia before to long.

The new Sonos Controller app for the iPhone and iPod touch is able to manage the same audio hardware and music libraries as the CR100 unit. Whether it’s controlling your music library, switching/linking zones on the fly, or adjusting the volume, the iPhone app can do everything it’s bigger brother can. If you want to quickly search for an artist on Pandora or listen to your MP3 library in another room, the touchscreen interface of the iPhone really makes the whole process more intuitive and easier to manage. In addition to your music library on your computer, NAS or Time Capsule, Sonos brings Pandora, Sirius, Rhapsody and Napster control right to the iPhone, plus support for 15,000 new radio stations and Last.fm. galleryPost('sonosiphone', 6, '');
