We already knew that Nokia was launching its “Comes With Music” service in Australia this quarter, but now we have a tiny bit more information: local independant music label Liberation, who looks after artists like Jimmy Barnes, Bliss ‘n Eso, Josh Pyke, diesel, Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson, The Temper Trap and Troy Cassar-Daley, will be a part of the service at launch. I wonder if that includes the Barnesy back-catalog?
The way I see it, an awesome gadget gift does not deserve to be adorned with a flowery label. I’m assuming that’s why someone decided to make these floppy disk labels versions. The labels cost about a buck apiece—a bit pricey, but it would be worth it to impress that special someone with your thoughtfulness. Unfortunately, the labels are currently sold out—but there might be more in stock by Christmas. Either way, it could provide a little inspiration to make something like this at home. Kind of like a nerdy Martha Stewart. [Etsy via Technabob via OhGizmo]
According to the New York Times, multiple label executives have confirmed that Apple is looking to expand its iTunes ringtone collection by June—far more than they have in the past. Their interests include both downloadable song snippets and ringback tones (new ringers). But apparently, the labels feel that these ringtones should cost more over a hypothetical 3G iTunes Store than the current Wi-Fi option. Why do music labels feel that way? Oh, because they are a bunch of greedy dinosaurs who hate you, that’s why. [NYTimes]
