Kubrick Vs Spielberg: Who’s The Better Director?

Gizmodo AU

Stanley Kubrick and Steven Spielberg have made an incredible contribution to science fiction filmography. But who was the better director? In the eyes of Terry Gilliam, there’s not even a race to be run. Not specifically on the grounds of specific technical merit, but more simply because Kubrick was willing to leave people distinctly unsettled.

Daft Punk Bearbricks: Musicians and Robots and Bears…Oh My!

ToysREvil has the scoop on a limited edition pair of Daft Punk Bearbricks, meant to coincide with the release of Daft Punk’s Alive 2007 CD. Medicom will release 3000 of these toys on December 5, package them with a copy of the CD and sell it for 5250 Yen ($A55), presumably in Japan. The Bearbricks also come housed in a pyramid, not unlike the one Daft Punk used for their epic live shows. The set as a whole looks pretty sweet, but I think I like the earlier Daft Punk/Medicom collaborations better…and now I sound like an obsessive DP fanboy. [Medicom via ToysREvil]

Star Wars Kubrick Toys

I love these Star Wars Kubricks because I have a soft spot for cult toy makers that work with big franchises. The characters for this series were taken from Episodes I-III, and feature the likes of Qui Gonn Jinn, naked C-3PO, and Annakin Skywalker before he grew a rat tail and allowed his hormonally raging manhood to overtake his Jedi state of mind. These are expected to come out in March of 2008 for about $96. [Instinctoy via Toys R Evil]

Metal Gear Solid Kubrick Figures Make Us Go !

Seen at this year’s Comic-Con, these Metal Gear Solid Kubrick figures are probably the best things we’ve seen yet in LEGO-ish form. The Kubrick block figures will have Snake and Grey Fox from #1, Naked Snake from #3, and Old Snake and Robot Ninja Raiden from #4. La Li Lu Le Lo. [Figures via Toys R Evil via HypeBeast]
