I’ve seen some good re-entries filmed from orbit, but I like this one because it feels like a chase. In fact, it is a chase, as the ISS was following the same direction of the Russian Progress Resupply that was destroyed.
In the video below, three astronauts on the ISS are demonstrating to us lowly earthlings what happens when the ISS accelerates in space and boosts itself into a higher orbit. As you can see, they hilariously start to get sucked away.
This short-yet-mesmerising video of the Aurora Australis, captured from the International Space Station as it orbited 320km above Australia and New Zealand, shows that Earth is more than willing to put on a show for our off-planet explorers.
OK, so astronauts in 3D is kind of gimmicky, but also bloody cool.
