Germany’s big IFA electronics showcase has finished for another year, and there was lots to talk about! Toshiba now has the thinnest Android tablet (and Acer the slimmest Ultrabook), while Sony drew lots of attention with a wild new 3D headset. Samsung’s new 7.7-inch Galaxy tab also made news, even before Apple won a court decision forcing it to be removed from display. Full recap: [Gizmodo's IFA 2011 Coverage]
I’m no great fan of 3D, but part of that comes down to the annoyance of wearing 3D glasses over my own specs. TechRadar reports that Sony’s latest 3D effort continues the trend towards glasses-free 3D, with a lenticular sheet that goes over the display screen of the Vaio S Series notebooks.
Woah. Anyone out there fancy an 7680×4320-pixel display on an 85-inch panel? No pricing info as yet, but I’m confident in saying this is going to be expensive.
Would you buy an Android tablet while you’re picking up the milk and bread? Aldi may shortly be selling Medion Android tablets and phones.
You want an Android phone? Done. You want a tablet dock for that phone? Also done. How about a PSP-style game dock? TV connectivity? Sure, why not? The designers of the KT Spider have gone all out (and then some) in their conceptual Android phone that really does seem to do it all.
The Anti Sleep Pilot sounds like it should be suited for aviators, but its core design is (like the nap zapper) for eliminating driver fatigue. The secret behind its particular design? Simon.
The ultrabooks keep coming at IFA 2011. Toshiba’s entry into the space features a extremely light chassis — yes, even lighter than either the MacBook Air or the Acer Aspire S3.
Haier’s a house of wacky concepts; we saw that earlier in the year with its wire-free TV. Its latest innovation, on show at IFA? A television that you control with your brain.
I don’t even like 3DTV, and I want one of these! Toshiba’s somewhat redefining “top of the range” with its latest 3DTV, which promises 3D viewing and a resolution that borders on the ludicrous.
LG’s Dual Play capability allows two player split screen gaming without the split screen. We’ve seen this kind of thing before with Sony’s Playstation TV, but not on this scale.
