Self-Destructing Mosquitoes Could Wipe Out Dengue Fever

Scientists have bred mosquitoes in Guatemala that will cause mosquito genocide when they mate with normal mosquitoes. The idea is to thwart disease spread by the insects, in this case dengue fever.

The world is trying to swallow Guatemala, one terrifying sinkhole at a time. The latest occurrence woke 65-year-old Inocenta Hernandez, making her think there’d been a car crash outside. There wasn’t. The sound was a 12m chasm opening directly under her bed.

Finally, someone got a helicopter and filmed the Guatemalan Gates of Hell. The 60m deep sinkhole – which swallowed a clothing factory – was caused by tropical storm Agatha’s torrential rains. What I want to see now is someone exploring the bottom.

The Gates Of Hell Just Opened In Guatemala

“This can’t be real” was my first thought. Then I checked the source: the Guatemalan government. This sinkhole appeared last sunday in a street intersection of Ciudad de Guatemala. Just looking at the photo gives me vertigo. Updated.
