For the past three weeks, some of you Gizmodians have been fighting the good fight, doing your best to get the Gizmodo name out there to people who might not necessarily know about our gadget obsessions. And while the prize was a 42-inch LCD TV, not all of you did it for the prize alone – some of you took your love of Giz to the streets, and we honour you for it.

Unfortunately though, just like the Highlander, there can be only one (winner). And even though the decision was a tough one, our panel of judges decided unanimously on which of you deserves the TV. And that person is……XXX. No, not Vin Diesel. Just like dentists on TV, we can’t reveal the winner’s <strike>face</strike> name, just in case he loses his job. For the same reason we can’t show you all the images and video XXX submitted in his entry. But he knows who he is, and that’s the important thing…

XXX took a multi-pronged approach to helping Gizmodo Grow. He started with a simple idea that wasn’t exactly unique – changing the homepage of all the computers at University to Gizmodo. Simple but effective:

But that’s where the simplicity ended. Step two involved taking inspiration from Fight Club and splicing in the Giz logo to the trailer reel before films. While there’s no way of knowing how many people noticed the logo, the whole subliminal messaging thing definitely gave XXX an advantage:

Step three… well, let’s just say that quite a few thousand Sydney motorists travelling to work last week would have seen some Giz love. As far as sheer numbers exposed, this had to be the biggest…

Of course, XXX had some stiff competition, so honourable mentions must go out to Dave, Julie and Ryan (you know who you are). You guys did a great job, but were pipped at the post. Better luck next time…

It’s currently sitting in my spare room, hogging up space, waiting for you to enter our Gizmo-grow competition so you can win it and I can get rid of it. Inside the box is a 42-inch LG LCD TV, which has only been used once when we were reviewing it.

So what do you have to do to win 42-inches of TV goodness? Help us grow. Get the Gizmodo logo out there in the real world, and then send us the evidence. There have been a few really clever entries, but there’s still time for you to blow us away and win the TV.
*Shave the Giz logo into your head for the next three weeks
*Rename a street sign in your capital city “Gizmodo Street”
*Project the Gizmodo logo onto a very large and/or iconic building
*Burn a Gizmodo logo into your front lawn
*Name your newborn child Gizmodo and tell the media
*Print the Giz logo on a large poster and take it to a football match…
*And many more

Of course, these are a few ideas off the top of my head. You’d be better off modifying them slightly if you wanted to actually win (one of the judging criteria is creativity, after all). And remember not to break any laws in your attempts.

Send entries to competitions@gizmodo.com.au. You can pick up a hi-res copy of the Giz logo and a link to all the terms and conditions on the original post.

One of you will soon become the owner of this 42-inch 1080p LCD from LG. We put the TV through its paces, and while it’s not quite pantsworthy, it’s certainly worthy of your eyeballs attention, especially when you’re watching HD content.

But anyway, back to the competition. “How do I win this TV”, I hear multitudes of you asking. Well, begging will get you nowhere. Either will drinking beer. No, to become the proud owner of this TV (and I should emphasise, this is the very same unit that we reviewed), you’re going to have to work for it. And when we say work, we really mean it…

Essentially, we want you guys to spread the good Gizmodo word. Kind of like Triple J gets its listeners to Beat the Drum, we want you to Gizmo-grow. We want to see our Gizmodo logo everywhere and anywhere. We want to see a giant Gizmodo ‘G’ from Google Earth. Hell, we want to see the Gizmodo ‘G’ on the Google logo.

Consider it viral marketing on steroids. The only difference is that you guys will be doing the work for us – partially because we’re lazy, partially because we really want to separate the true Gizmodians from the phonies while we’re giving away this TV.

Of course, there are rules. Nothing illegal being the biggest one. Don’t go and tag Parliament House with a Gizmodo logo – that reflects poorly on everyone (even if it does make politics much more interesting). Your entry needs to include either the full Gizmodo logo or the Gizmodo ‘G’. To help, you can download a high-res version of our logo logotype_gizmodo_2.psd. There’ll also be a judging panel from our parent company, Allure Media, for this comp, so no begging me for favours, okay? And don’t think that bigger is always better (although sometimes it is) – we’ll be judging on creativity, exposure and entertainment value.

Entries close at 5pm, November 21 and judging will take place at 9am the following Monday, which will give the winner one awesome early Christmas present. We also encourage multimedia entries as your submissions – photos, videos, songs – we take it all (except viruses).

To enter, send your submission (or a link to your submission in the case of videos) to competitions@gizmodo.com.au. As entries come rolling in, we’ll post a few of the better ones to try and inspire you to bigger and better things, so don’t wait around to enter either.

Best of luck. We’re looking forward to the results.
UPDATE: Here’s View image in.JPG format, for those of you without Photoshop.
