Anyone who speaks un-English is welcome to pillage Ikea’s Swedish forum for more details than we could excavate with the assistance of Google Translate, but from what we can tell, this bar desk is a quasi-custom job that could turn your shameful WoW addiction into a mature, metropolitan hobby that’s fully capable of wooing the most reserved of Banana Republic lady’s section employees. Just stash any snacks that end in a Z when company comes around.
Glued and screwed to a vintage mahogany tray, these doll limbs have transcended from merely looking adorable to the highest role a toy stolen from your sister can hold: a barbaric craft project. The Hooktastic Holdall, available for $US50, is tough enough to hold your coat, innocent enough to avoid the trashcan and repulsive enough to keep neighbours at bay. You can even specify what arty “fire” objects are displayed inside: driftwood, pebbles or gravel. The fireplace pumps out 2kW of heat from its element, though, rather strangely, Platonics says this is an optional add-on. Maybe those LEDs get really hot. For the most part, these cords are hidden in a very half-assed manner behind couches and under rugs —resulting in a geeky ghetto look that is as dangerous as it is hideous. My guess is that a scenario like the one I just described is fairly common, which is why Paul Kogelnig and Gabriel Heusser designed the Cablet Carpet.

The carpet features a series of cable ducts that you can use to run your cords from gadget to outlet. These ducts are made from a soft foam that makes them undetectable when you walk over them —which means no more tripping and busting your ass. All-in-all a very simple solution to a very annoying problem. Pricing information is available upon request. The site says it will be for sale soon, though something tells us it won’t be ready in time for Christmas. Which is all for the best: God knows what would happen if your grandma walks into the spare bedroom and sees you sleeping on it.
