A nice little Christmas treat for Vodafone owners of HTC’s rather aged Magic Android smartphone – you can now download an update to Froyo, giving you an almost new phone again.
As Jason noted in his review, the Boxee Box was a really good local media streamer, but the software was also pretty damn buggy. Well hopefully that will change for the better now that Boxee has issued their first firmware update. Not only does it offer 30 bug fixes, it adds improvements to navigational and sorting elements in the UI.
A substantial firmware improvement is set to arrive on Barnes & Noble’s Nook next month, bringing a host of new features and optimisations.

Sony’s plan to update the PS3′s firmware with support for 3D playback via Blu-ray has been put back, with the company now saying it’ll be here some time during October. So you’ll have to find some other way to play that vast catalogue of 3D discs you own until then. [Kotaku]
