Remote Controlled 'Ultimate Wall-E' Available For Pre-Order at US$250

Posted by Sean Fallon at 6:57 AM on July 23, 2008

Maybe it was a miscalculation, or perhaps it is Disney trying to capitalise on the success of the film, but the Ultimate Wall-E remote controlled robot is now available for pre-order at US$250--about US$60 more than originally expected. Not a big deal, though--this toy is so feature-packed, it is almost like having the real thing. [Disney]

Disney's Mickey Digital Camera Unintentionally Gives Toddlers a Goatse Facial

Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 11:30 AM on July 7, 2008

Careful what kind of digital camera you give your kids from the Disney Store these days, otherwise the spawn of your loins could end up putting a goatse right up against their chubby cherubic faces. Then, their virgin innocence robbed from them, they'll probably go around leaving this 8MB camera in the darker places of your house, hoping to catch a few nether region images of their own (of poor quality, btw, this is actually a pretty poor camera to begin with). You've been warned. -- Thanks, Chris, we think? [The Disney Store]

New Wall-E Promotion Posters Invoke 1950s Ad Stylings

Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 4:30 AM on June 23, 2008

Fans of retro-styled poster art and Pixar films can now buy Eric Tan's 1950s throwback WALL-E prints. The WALL-E designs, which include pictures of Wall-E and Eve next to slogans such as "The Future is NOW!" were previously handed out as promotional postcards at the San Diego Comic Con 2007. These new poster-size versions measure 33 by 48 cms and cost US$165 unframed.

Disney's Innoventions Dream Home is a Big Ad For Microsoft and HP...But I Still Want It

Posted by Sean Fallon at 11:00 AM on June 20, 2008

Recently, Disney announced the grand opening of their new Innoventions Dream Home located in Tomorrowland in Anaheim, Calif. The construction was a collaborative effort between Disneyland, Microsoft, HP, Life|ware and home-builder Taylor Morrison--so naturally the home functions more as a big advertising campaign for current products than an actual "home of the future." Still I wouldn't mind booting out the fictional Elias family from their 5000 sq ft home to get my hands on some of this tech.

$25 iDance WALL-E Is One Seizuriffic Lil' Bot

Posted by Benny Goldman at 9:08 AM on June 18, 2008

The iDance WALL-E robot—essentially a dancing iPod speaker—is awesomely spazztastic. He busts his moves to the tune of any MP3 player via 3.5mm jack and gives a groovy light show with his eyes. WALL-E also speaks, saying his name in that adorable voice of his ("WaAaaAAaLL-E"). As you can see in the video, he's not as fancy as his very embarrassed $200 big brother, but for $US25 he'll make any Rolly roll for the hills. Hey Hollywood, I smell You Got Served 2. It—that is, the iDance WALL-E—will be out in July. [Disney]

This Disney RC Tinker Bell is one seriously sweet flying fairy. As you see in the video, it's using WowWee's FlyTech ornithopter-type vertical flying system to flutter, glide and dive around this Waldorf-Astoria suite. It'll be out in the spring for $US40. [Disney]

Hannah Montana Mic Kit Makes Singing Easy for Little Girls and Grown Men Alike

Posted by Benny Goldman at 9:07 AM on June 18, 2008

Before you laugh, Hannah Montana has some high-tech instruments out that even hardcore gadget heads can appreciate. My favourite is the Mic Kit, expertly demoed by Disney creative director Jon Guerra in the clip above. The kit is a USB mic with software that teaches you how to sing with proper pitch control and recognition through a karaoke-style game. It analyses your vocal range too, and adjusts the songs accordingly so you don't have to worry about sounding hopelessly out of tune.

There's also a Guitar Hero-style plug-and-play game for kids that has 3 buttons and a cool touch-sensor bar instead of the typical strumming button. It's $US70, and the mic kit is $US50, both coming soon. [Disney]

Lego-Built Wall-E: It Was Only a Matter of Time

Posted by Sean Fallon at 5:10 AM on June 18, 2008

It was only a matter of time before someone decided to tackle a Lego version of Disney-Pixar's cute little cash cow Wall-E. After a three month planning session, Joe Meno, editor of BrickJournal magazine, managed to get the job done. The result is a very impressive model that features a moving neck and arms along with rolling treads. Hit the Flickr gallery for the full set of photos. [Flickr via Brothers Brick]

New Clip From Wall-E Movie Hits Intertubes

Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 2:05 AM on June 10, 2008

It's been a while since we showed you a new clip of Wall-E, so it'll please you to know that over at Slashfilm they've got one, apparently shown during ABC's screening of Finding Nemo. We won't spoil it by telling you much, but there's some Eve in there too and a great demo of some Newtonian physics in action: check it out, and remember the movie's due the 27th this month. InterAction Wall-E and Eve Toys Get it on Robotically

Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 6:47 PM on May 30, 2008

We liked the big Wall-E toy, but with the InterAction Wall-E, it looks like he's even more "real"— reacting when you talk to him with lights, moving head and arms, speech and sound effects. InterAction Eve is similar, with added whooshes and laser firing when you whirl her in the air. But best of all: the two interact with each other, and if this illustration is anything to go by, it looks like a bit of robo-flirting is possible. How far they get it on is hazy: but I'm wondering how many parents are going to have to modify the "birds and the bees talk" with a new angle. Due Summer, no info on price. [Toyology]
