Although these ridiculous looking kicks promise to help “keep you active while maintaining blood flow and muscle tone in your legs” while you’re inactively watching TV, on long flights, or doing whatever else you do in a chair, I believe this un-gadget has an alternative purpose.

Another one to add to the list of fashion faux pas, the Inflatable Foot Cushions will repel away women faster than wearing socks with sandals. Admittedly, I want a pair of these suckers for myself. But only to see if they’ll help me walk on water; after all, my momma tells me I have to stop being a little Satan spawn and start being more like Jesus.

The Price: US$39.99

The Verdict: Alright. It does what it says, which is giving you a small cushion between your laptop and your thighs. It’s better than a normal pillow because it’s flat, and gives adequate airflow for proper ventilation. The little hiding hole is enough for you to shove your iPod, wallet, or various computer accessories into.

The only thing we have a problem with is the price. US$40 seems to be too high for something like this (it was listed incorrectly as US$64.99 on their press release) when you can get something like the Kangaroom Bamboo Laptop station for US$45. Or, you can wait for Belkin’s other laptop cooling devices like the Cooling Lounge, which cost the same but have a fan on board for extra ventilation. [Belkin]

Looking a little like a massage table, it’s 78 x 48 cms across, and can be propped up at a variety of angles from flat to about 30 degrees so your arms reach your notebook… and see that little space for your chin? Of course I am speaking about arse sweat. In fact, their air conditioned seat cushion line can pump up to 170 litres of air per minute through the seat using an extraordinarily low amount of electricity in the process.

Apparently, the energy consumption of the device is so low that you could run it everyday for 8 hours and only pay the equivalent of around 5 cents extra on your electricity bill for the month. However, this isn’t the first time we have come across an air conditioner of this type—Thanko came out with a version last year that is powered via USB. It also appears to be a little cheaper than the Kuchofuku model, but we are not sure how well it stacks up in terms of butt cooling performance and power consumption.

Most people think that all boobs are cushions, but these Funwari Milk-chan, or Fluffy Milk, are real boob cushions. Like the real thing, they come in all different shapes and sizes. Unlike the real thing, however, they’re furry. There are five different boobs to choose from, each with its own character:Funwari Milk-chan, in the center, is easy-going, but would like to be bigger than she is. Likes: collagen, sleeping. Top left is Can Milk-san is a wannabe celeb with an American boyfriend (that’ll be Chen, then) who loves beauty salons.

Below her is Ganguro Milk-chan who, despite her pierced nipple is mature and level-headed. Loves dancing, apparently. Peach Milk-chan is an arachnophobic fashion victim who’s pretty frightening when she’s angry, is up on current affairs and loves low-brow stuff — um, sounds like me. Finally Miko-chan is the baby of the group, and a total genius. She loves to invent things, and her brain is in her pacifier.

Their official website is rather fabulous, full of slightly odd drawings of boobs standing on each other and toppling over, boobs in sunglasses, singing boobs as well as <s>boobs beating their friends at Halo 3</s> cartoon strips of the Milk Village quintet’s exploits. They cost around $9 each in, yep, Japan. And before you accuse me of being sensationalist, I would just like to say that I was made to write that headline by one of our editors.

You’re probably sitting in a seat right now that’s getting unbearably hot, struggling with the hot butt phenomenon and wishing you had a Self-Cooling Seat Cushion like this one. It does its cooling passively without any power requirements like that cool-or-heat temperature controlled seat we showed you last year. Although this one sounds like some sort of fanny fatigue-relieving miracle, its makers claim its secret has a scientific basis, using unnamed natural mineral crystals inside with a melting point that “produces a slow, soothing cooling.”

The promise of never sitting in a hot seat again is awfully tempting, but we have our doubts about this cushion, wondering how a passive cooling system like this can actually keep cooling your ass all day. Indeed, on the website it says you should stop using this cushion before all the minerals are in a melted state. It doesn’t mention how long it takes for those minerals to melt.

We’ve sat on gel seat cushions that feel cool for just a little while until the butt warms them up. For $49.95, let’s hope this miracle chemical inside performs better than a water bottle full ice cubes. It’s a microcosm, in plush, pillow form, of the collective human experience on planet Earth. For instance, what news did we search most in 2003? Kobe Bryant, Brittany Spears, Shakira, and 50 Cent. 2005 found itself riddled with trifles like “tsunami” and Hurricane Katrina, but it’s promising to know that even in the face of such tragedies, Man still found time to search for Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie Britney Spears again…Needless to say, the pillow becomes a greatest hits list for everything that truly matters in the world.

2003 will run you a steep $250, with other years costing a slightly more reasonable $120. Each pillow is signed for authenticity that it’s expensive.
