Meet Peter Terren. Inspired by the The Thinker, he set out to recreate that classic sculpture using electricity, wire caging, a conductive foil suit, and a death wish. Can’t forget the death wish.

Now, we’ve seen Terren and Tesla Down Under’s work before here at Gizmodo, most notably when he put his son in a car and zapped it with electricity.

This little project, however, put him in the hot seat. Note the electricity shooting out of his sneaker.

Lucky for us all, Terren meticulously documented the entire project with photos and safety-related commentary (”The wig is not ideal and really needs a haircut. I couldn’t light it with sparks so fire risk seems low”).

Terren also outfitted some of the tests with a pentagram boundary, which had nothing to do with Tesla coils or electricity, of course, but certainly heightened the sense of batshit insanity surrounding this little venture. There’s no flex: The whole “not dying” part is determined entirely by where you anchor the rope—and where you jump.

Leave it to the nation who contrived Russian Roulette to come up with rope jumping. It looks totally simple and straight forward, until you just think for a second about the physics involved. If you jump straight down, you could dislocate some important part of your body, or worse, you could snap the rope and keep on falling. The key is to jump so that you swing across the underside of the bridge, and to trust that your rope is attached to something that ain’t going nowhere.

And you’d better be coordinated when doing it in groups of, say, 54—like above—lest someone on their backswing hits you as you’re heading down.

Still not dangerous enough? Well, according to English Russia, rope jumpers like to up the ante by jumping…

…when there is no water under the bridge but raw firm ice, also they use to jump at that same moment when the train is going thru the bridge.

None for me, thanks, but good luck to you. [English Russia; Russos]

The double jump was made by Levi LaValle at the Winter X Games on a 200kg Polaris snowmobile. I’m more the giant Antarctic snowmobile type, the one that can carry planes and have a small apartment inside, but I can appreciate the absolutely nutterini risk this jump involves.
