Question of the Day: Which Missing iPhone Feature Would You Like to See Most?
6:50AM Sean Fallon | Over the weekend we learned that the iPhone firmware 2.2 beta was going out to developers sans copy/paste (again). Apple claims that it is not a top priority but, to be honest, I’m beginning to think that it will never happen. Nonetheless, AT&T released a survey to customers in an attempt to determine what the level of demand was for the most bitched about missing iPhone features. Out of curiosity, I have replicated the survey responses in the poll after the break. Which missing feature is on the top of your must-have list? More »

Dear iPhone Users, We Somehow Still Don’t Know that You Want Cut and Paste
11:00AM Gizmodo US Edition | AT&T is circulating a survey among some of its longer-term iPhone users with a checklist of features they’d like to see. It’s a follow-up to a similar survey a few months back, and apparently also serves to judge reactions to the 2.1 firmware. Some of the most regular complaints make the list, including picture messaging through MMS, landscape mode for email, a user-replaceable battery, and the all-mighty cut and paste. The survey probably doesn’t imply any kind of imminent changes, but it’s nice to hear that AT&T is trying to listen to what we’ve all been screaming for so long. [AppleInsider] More »

iPhone Firmware 2.2 Beta 2 Goes Out to Developers: Still No Copy/Paste
2:40AM Gizmodo US Edition | So here’s the deal. You don’t get copy/paste. You don’t get image or videos over MMS. And you still can’t type your emails or text messages in landscape mode. BUT! If you’ve been dreaming about Google Street View, or, uh, walking directions… well, you’re in luck, because Apple is listening to you and nobody else. One neat little tidbit, though: looks like the SDK is now supporting line-in audio devices, which could lead to some fun later on. Still, not a thrilling update. [Boy Genius Report] More »

BlackBerry Storm Can Cut and Paste, Multitouchily
8:30PM John Herrman | If browsing through the leaked PowerPoint and User Guide showing how to sync your contacts or, you know, send an email didn’t get your heart pumping, BGR has found a punchier little feature that might. RIM’s documentation indicates that multitouch (!!) cut and paste functionality will be built into the Storm’s software, something that Apple has been stubbornly disinterested in. Hopefully BlackBerry is saving more multitouch announcements for later. [BGR] More »

Latest iPhone Copy & Paste Stopgap CopierciN Works With SMS, Emails, Notes
5:55AM John Mahoney | It’s kind of starting to be a joke, this copy and paste thing. The latest promising-looking implementation, CopierciN (for jailbreak only via Cydia), acts as a middle man, importing text messages, your most recent emails, or your notes into a standard text editor, where you can then select what you want to “copy” and then “paste” that text into a new message or note (in their native apps). And in a new twist, CopierciN was written as a first project by someone who just taught himself how to program in Objective C. So now students are doing your dirty work and besting you, Apple–’bout time for you to jump in this ring, no? Read more here, and check it out (in early, rough beta form) via Cydia.
