Woz Knows When the Price is Right

Posted by Adam Frucci at 2:47 AM on July 17, 2008

Apparently, Woz is a Price is Right fan. Unfortunately, he was just sitting in the front row and was never called down to play Plinko or spin the big wheel, because I bet that he really knows the prices of household products and could use a new Lincoln Towncar or whatever it was they gave away that episode. Oh, Woz. Hit the jump for another screenshot of Woz enjoying himself some game show goodness, then let's hear your best captions in the comments section. Thanks, Brett!

iPhone App Contest Reminder

Posted by Jason Chen at 7:20 AM on July 10, 2008

Speaking of really cool iPhone apps, here's one of the submissions we've gotten for our iPhone App Contest. It's called Instinctiv Shuffle, and it "learns from your skipping patterns and plays what you want to hear." We haven't tested it out for ourselves in any extent, but current users of it (it's a jailbreak application) seem to really like it. During random shuffle, users skip on average every 2 songs, but in Instinctiv Shuffle, they only skip every 14 songs. Think your app is cooler? Send it on in to our contest. [Instinctiv]

A Beer-Shooting Minigun Can't Possibly Be a Bad Idea

Posted by Mark Wilson at 12:00 AM on July 10, 2008

We're not exactly sure how this beer minigun promotes pacifism as the creator claims, but who are we to argue? An entrant in the Nastro Azurro UnBEERlievable Collection, it's just one of many beer-inspired technologies that we're absolutely certain would function perfectly if fabricated for real life use.

Napkin Sketches Prove There's a Little Inventor in All of Us

Posted by Adam Frucci at 3:00 AM on July 9, 2008

Last week I asked you to send me napkin sketches of your brilliant gadget ideas. The sketches I received ranged from good ideas to bad ideas to flat-out horrible ideas. It's safe to say that no time machines or gadgets that'll make you attractive to ladies are suddenly feasible because you did a poor drawing of one on a napkin. Sorry! Hit the jump for the top three winners.

Show Us Your Wildest Gadget Dreams in Napkin Sketch Form

Posted by Adam Frucci at 5:40 AM on July 3, 2008

It's a classic story: someone comes up with a million dollar idea while sitting at a bar and sketches it out on a napkin to remember it. Later, they profit, and they have a cute story about where they came up with the idea. Well, now's your chance. For this week's photo contest, I'm looking for you to get creative without the aid of Photoshop. Instead, I want to see what kind of fantastical gadget napkin sketches you can come up with. What have you always wanted to see on the shelves of Best Buy? What's the craziest or most futuristic device you can imagine? Sketch it out on a napkin, take a picture or scan it in, and email it to contests@gizmodo.com with "napkin sketch" in the subject line. I'll post the best sketches in our Gallery of Champions next Tuesday. Get sketchin'!

Posted by Adam Frucci at 2:30 AM on July 2, 2008

Last week, I asked you to imagine horrible movie remakes and sequels that not even the folks in Hollywood would be so bold as to create. You responded. Oh, how you responded. I have to share with you nearly 50 movies that, god willing, we will never, ever have to see. I hope. OK, hit the jump to see your top three winners and then all the other winners in our Gallery of Champions.

What Geek Movie Remakes and Sequels are Too Horrifying for Even Hollywood to Create?

Posted by Adam Frucci at 2:50 AM on June 27, 2008

Hollywood is going a little bit crazy with the unnecessary sequels and remakes these days, more often than not taking a beloved show or movie from our younger years and holding it down while it drowns in a bathtub. Still, there are properties left unmolested, memories that have yet to be tarnished. Trust me: it's only a matter of time. For this week's Photoshop contest, I want to see you imagine some new sequels or remakes that would be so offensive to your precious memories that you would swear off movies for good.
