Wind-Sensitive LED Dandelion Dress Is Made For Pretty Night Fairies

I like this dress embroidered with dandelion lights. Called Flare, it was created by designer Stijn Ossevoort. The LED flowers glow up gently when the wind or your breath touches them, causing much swooning and sighing in the process.

I’m all for naughty, oh-come-treat-me-like-a-bad-girl-tonight scraps of lace. What I’m not such a fan of is trashy oh-come-follow-me-using-the-built-in-GPS lingerie. I don’t care if it’s pretty, frilly designer lingerie. It’s got a damn tracking system embedded in the fabric.

Designed by Lucia Lorio, the fashion line is dubbed “Find Me If You Can”, but how could you not find someone when they’re running around with a pager-sized GPS device sewn into a bodice? While the fact that it would be impossible to not notice the gadget makes me laugh off the whole paranoia of jealous men using this as a sneaky way to keep tabs on their lovers, I still think it’s a ridiculous design. Why you would spend between $US1200 and $US1600 for something intended to be ripped off a body. [The Age via GizmoWatch]

Beautiful Dress Made Out Of 24,000 LEDs

24,000 full-colour, super-thin LEDs, 4000 Swarovski crystals and enough iPod batteries to keep everything glowing for about an hour. This picture doesn’t do the Galaxy Dress justice, but the video comes close.

This gorgeous thing was designed by Francesca Rosella and Ryan Genz and they say that it’s the “the largest wearable display in the world”. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I do know that I wanted to cry when I read that the dress went straight from the sewing room to the museum mannequin, without ever being worn by a real woman. In reality, the Scottevest/SeV Pack Windbreaker doesn’t look as cool as in this — fake — X-ray image, but it packs a lot of nice features for gadget lovers, including a clear, touch-sensitive pockets, and more pockets than Batman’s suit.

Seventeen of them, some deep, some with magnetic closures. It also has a weight management system which, according to the manufacturer, is supposed to balance the weight from all the pieces of plastic and silicon you carry around. The pockets inside are made of clear touch fabric, which according to the manufacturer, allows you to see and control your touchscreen devices without having to take them out.

Through the jacket there are conducts that allow you to install cables and earbuds, so there’s nothing hanging out except your legs. [Scottevest]
