Last year, it was Michael up in Brisbane who blew our minds with an amazing Chrsitmas lights display synchronised to music. This year, it’s Ryan down in Adelaide.

I always thought that the Christmas lights around our suburb were pretty awesome, but after seeing this, I know that Brisbane is the place to go for a really awesome light show. Micahel designed and built the controller boards himself, and then did all the synchronisation to the music by hand using the free Vixen Lights software, taking about 30 hours to code the entire song.
Tokyo’s Shibuya train has a special installation for Christmas that uses its pedestrians’ footsteps to generate electricity. A mat using piezoelectric gadgetry runs a LED display board and a small holiday lights display.
Like every year, the Controllable Christmas Lights for Celiac Disease are now live, tackier and wonkier than ever, with more than 20,000 lights, plus inflatable Santa, Elmo, Frosty Family, SpongeBob, Homer, and even Hulk.
We’ve featured crazy arse Christmas lights on here before, and seeing as it’s officially past Thanksgiving, it’s time to show them off again.
The next time some tough guy on the street tries to pressure you into buying cheap Christmas bulbs JUST SAY NO! Apparently, the market for counterfeit holiday decorations is increasing at an alarming pace—and these lights can pose serious safety hazards. They may try and sucker you in by saying things like “this is the real deal” and “come on man, don’t you want your house to look like the Grizwold’s for only $US5?” But be warned—this lifestyle isn’t “cool” or “glamorous.”
