Halo Warthog Wheels On

4:39PM Nick Broughall | The guys from Microsoft somehow managed to get the guys from Weta to lend them their replica Warthog, and I spent this afternoon checking it out. The attention to detail is amazing! More »

Xbox 360 Bill Gates Edition (1 of 1 Limited Apology Run)

8:30AM Haroon Malik | A few weeks back, an unlucky Xbox owner shipped off his customised Bungie autographed console to Microsoft’s repair centre, and to his horrors they wiped it clean. Bungie resigned a console for him, but now, Microsoft is chiming in with a new console with Bill’s signature on it and hundreds of dollars worth of new video games. More »

Custom Master Chief Transformer: (Gasp) Having…Trouble… Breathing!

3:15AM Gizmodo US Edition | When I came across this custom Master Chief transformer, I have to admit that my heat skipped a beat. If yours did too, you are a huge geek and we love you for it. And the best part is you can actually own this bad boy if you are up to the task of outbidding the competition. Here is the skinny straight from the creator: More »

Bungie Guys Drive Warthog Replica Into a Building

2:05AM Adam Frucci | Some of the dudes from Bungie got a chance to tool around in WETA’s Warthog replica. As you can see, knowing how to drive in video games and knowing how to drive in real life are two very different things. Nice work, you boneheads. [TechEBlog] More »

Halo 3: First look at new ‘Narrows’ multiplayer map

6:16PM Seamus Byrne | We got to see some hot new Halo 3 action today, in the form of the eighth multiplayer map to be announced, ‘Narrows’, and the spectacular new save films system in single player campaign mode. Want some tactical insight? You got it. The pic above is of the wonderfully designed ‘Narrows’, built to suit 4-8 player CTF and Sniper multiplayer modes – it is long and skinny, with plenty of distant lines of sight and sniper rifles with easy access at the back of each team starting zone. It is a symmetrical (mirrored) map, complete with duelling Man Cannons down one side that will doubtless be the cause of a thousand nasty incidents – if two players launch at once, they’ll hit mid-air and both will die (unless you can frag the other before you get there). The ability to toss stuff like grenades into that stream should also help ‘clear’ the landing area before you arrive. If you’re not sniped mid-air.. but that Man Cannon flank is a fast route to getting in behind enemy lines, so if you can throw a bubble into the stream along with yourself (yep, for realz) you can wreak havok like a Master Chief should. UPDATE: Oh yeah, and this Man Cannon actions makes for possible mid-air melee kills! More strategic details on Narrows plus pics (thanks to IGN’s embargo breach) after the jump. -Seamus Byrne More »

Doing some maths: local Xbox 360 news next week

9:42AM Seamus Byrne | We’re off to a big Halo 3 event next week, with some of the boys from Bungie in town to show off their latest and greatest complete with some single player hands-on and new multipayer maps. Plus I’ve been invited to have a chat with the Bungie crew earlier in the day — if you have any questions you want asked, shoot ‘em into the comments below! But what’s also important on the news front is looking at next week in context of all the overseas news we’ve been hearing on Xbox 360. More »

Actual Pics of the Halo 3 Covenant Guns

6:10AM Seamus Byrne | Bungie’s just put out an update and given us real pictures of the Halo 3 Toys Covenant guns. The plasma rifle looks somewhat similar to the “real” thing (the gun in the game), but the plasma pistol looks really bleh. Real Covenant aliens wouldn’t be caught dead with a turquoise gun. However, it will have a “super shot” mode that will register more damage to that sensor you wear on your chest. Looks like the old laser tag games we played as kids. More »

Masterful Halo 3 Xbox 360 on eBay Australia

1:39PM Seamus Byrne | When you try and pull out the required TENS OF THOUSANDS (last look this had just broken $20,000), you can tell your S.O. it is for charity. Sick kids need your years salary! It really is an awesome piece of work. Airbrushed Halo 3 art, signed by the team at Bungie. This isn’t the first of the Konsoles for Kids charity auctions, with the earlier consoles getting a mix response — some going below retail. But they were ‘damaged’, particularly the Kerri-Anne Kennerley Konsole, and does anyone really support the Queensland Reds? I’m sure this Halo 3 result is sure to make up for the mediocre earlier responses. The global response is such that they’re offering an NTSC console to the winner if necessary. Check out the buyer information to see some of the recent auctions. -Seamus Byrne [ The Halo 3 Xbox 360 auction ] More »
