Canadian Retailer Uses Honesty and Anti-US Sentiment To Sell HDTVs

10:00AM September 22, 2008 | Wilson Rothman

The above pic is a splash screen you can see when visiting Canadian electronics and appliance retailer Easyhome, notifying visitors of a four-day sale. Depicted on the Sony TV in front of the American flag is a politician flashing pearly whites and a double-thumbed “This guy!” Beneath him is the none-too-veiled message “Even BS looks good on a 52-inch HD LCD TV.” Maybe so, Canada, but some think it’s even better with the volume all the way down. [Easyhome - Thanks Chris!]

Microsoft Rumoured to Release Blu-ray Xbox 360 “as Early as May 2008″

11:31PM February 18, 2008 | Jesus Diaz

With the HD DVD ship sinking faster than the Titanic, the rats are quickly abandoning the ship: according to rumours, Microsoft may be releasing a Blu-ray-based Xbox 360 soon. We don’t know if the rumour is real, although it seems reasonable to expect it. The only real question is when. Their Microsoft insiders are saying May. We are saying maybe. AU: And I am saying total BS. I’m sure the guys at Microsoft have discussed it, and I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that they had a working prototype with Blu-ray in their deepest, darkest laboratory. But MS was one of the biggest supporters of HD DVD, and they aren’t about to put their tail between their legs and come out in support of Blu-ray so soon. No way.

How Not to Destroy An Old PS2

11:56PM May 16, 2007 | Seamus Byrne

Here’s a cautionary tale featuring an about-to-be destroyed Sony PlayStation 2. A proud owner of a new PS3 decided to allow partygoers to destroy his outgoing PS2, and the guy who won the honors in a drawing decided to pee all over the obsolete gaming console.

Bad idea. The PS2 was still plugged in, and because urine is an excellent conductor of electricity, the guy was instantly knocked unconscious and nearly electrocuted. He was lucky enough to be treated and released at a local hospital. That’s got to hurt. Okay, so now we have this straight: it’s not a PEE S2. – Charlie White

AU: We’re calling a big, fat BS on this one. Between Mythbusters busting the railroad pissing shock myth, and how on earth someone would supposedly still have it plugged in — are they pissing on your entertainment centre? -SB

PRO TIP: Don’t Pee On Playstation 2 [Arrogantics]
