Panasonic are well and truly on the 3D TV bandwagon. This morning I had the opportunity to check out a pre-production sample of a 50-inch 3D plasma at Panasonic HQ, and asked them about concerns over Binocular Dysphoria, as brought to our attention by Mark Pesce on Byteside the other week. Here was their response:
I tried to explain Mark Pesce’s arguments against 3D TVs last week after his Byteside appearance, but he’s gone and written a much more eloquent version on the ABC Unleashed website. I thoroughly recommend reading it – whether or not you were considering purchasing a 3D television later this year.
The first episode of Byteside for 2010 was a great look into future trends for the technology industry, but the highlight of the evening for me was when Mark Pesce – one of the pioneers of virtual reality, co-inventor of VRML and regular judge on The New Inventors – told the audience: “For All Of You Who Are Planning To Buy A 3DTV: For God’s Sake Don’t…”
