The Aussie launch of the BBC iPlayer iPad app made many Gizmodo staffers exceptionally happy people earlier this year. Now they can relive their excitement with the imminent launch of the iPlayer iPhone app tomorrow.
I’ve spent the past couple of weeks poring over the BBC’s iPlayer application. It’s not perfect, but I’m solidly convinced it’s the future of TV, or at least how I’ll be watching it.
The BBC’s VOD iPlayer App went live overnight. There’s a lot to like — and a lot of value on offer at least for the first month. I’m a little concerned about its long term value, though.
Having launched in Europe in late July, Australia has today become the second region in the world to get access to the official BBC iPlayer iPad app. The app itself is free, and includes access to ten hours or so of sample content: for ongoing access to the full range of iPlayer content, you need to pay either $9.49 a month or $89.99 a year.
Everyone knows that owning an iPhone is a giant liability. Walk around with your shiny design piece and you’re definitely going to get stabbed and have it taken from you. So why not use an embarrassingly old and busted Nokia instead?
