4:30PM Nick Broughall | I’ve got so much to play with this weekend it’s not funny. There’s a PSPGo with Gran Turismo, Scribblenauts on the DS, Rock Band Beatles on 360, plus a Wacom Bamboo tablet, an Intel rocket, and I’m going to install Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro testing out Sun Virtualbox that so many of you recommended. We May Need A Global Unit Of ‘Green’, But It Won’t Be Easy Or Clear

7:20AM Jason Chen | Ken Musgrave of Fast Company comes to the conclusion that we need a “unit” of green measurement for products, much the same way that calories and fat grams are used in food. Yes, but it won’t be so easy. More »

Bamboo Speakers Aren’t Just For Looks, Are Really Made of Bamboo

Asus Goes Green With Aussie Launch Of Its Bamboo Series Laptops

9:00AM Kym Weathersten | Taiwanese computer brand Asus launched its “Green Collection” on Wednesday night at a fashion event in Sydney. While I’m not sure I understand the link between fashion and an environmentally friendly computer range (Were the copious amounts of hairspray used, non-carcinogenic? Eco-Friendly BamGoo Car Is Meal on Wheels For Pandas

6:15PM Gizmodo US Edition | Researchers at Kyoto University recently displayed an eco-friendly electric car made almost entirely out of bamboo, one of the fastest growing materials available. The single-seat “BamGoo” weighs about 60kg, can only run about 50 km on a charge, and probably won’t pass any safety tests, but it sure is cute! Let’s just hope that there aren’t any wandering pandas about. [Daylife] More »

Chinese Farmers Build Birds Nest Stadium Out of Bamboo

4:00AM Gizmodo US Edition | The Beijing National Stadium, nicknamed “The Bird’s Nest,” has already become an icon in the country of 1.3 billion. But for some farmers close to Hangzhou (located in the southeast of China), the Herzog & de Meuron structure was just too darn far away… so in a fit of DIY ingenuity, they built their own replica out of bamboo. Steel’s apparently kind of hard to get when you’re living on a couple of dollars a day.

Asus Reveals Bamboo-Trimmed U6, Ditches All-Bamboo EcoBook Concept

12:54AM Wilson Rothman | Asus showed us its newest U6 fashion laptop, trimmed with bamboo to give it an eco-friendly nature vibe. It works—the thing is exceptionally elegant, and you’ll pay for that: the thing will ring up at around US$2000. But what happened to the all-bamboo Asus EcoBook? Apparently, it’s tough to pull off heat management. No way, really? Building laptops entirely out of wood is not a good idea? Whatever, we’re actually pretty satisfied with this compromise. Have a look:
