AT&T Buries Potentially-Illegal New Terms of Service in 2,500-Page ‘Guidebook’

2:15AM September 16, 2008 | Adam Frucci

AT&T just sent out an 8,000-word update to its service agreement, and it’s full of all sorts of lovely, anti-customer things. For example, now people will only be given a 30-day notice of price increases when it’s “commercially reasonable.” Also, you can’t sue AT&T. In fact, according to the LA Times, the whole thing might go so far as to be illegal. Oh, AT&T.

iTunes 8 Release Candidate Is a Fake

2:54AM September 9, 2008 | Matt Buchanan

The dude who claimed he downloaded an iTunes 8 release candidate from a mysterious button on Apple’s iTunes site has decided to release it to the world after all. And it’s a whole bunch of fake crap—it’s a password-protected archive with a Zune setup file. Don’t download it, this guy sucks and will burn in gadget hell. [RapidShare - Thanks Johannes!]

KTLA ‘Reporter’ Makes Fun of iPhone Line-Sitters, Gets Called a Jackass on Live TV

3:20AM July 14, 2008 | Adam Frucci

KTLA Reporter Eric Spillman went down to the local iPhone line on Friday to cover it for his station. His version of coverage consisted of standing next to the line and asking hard hitting questions such as “Have any of these people ever seen a naked woman before?” not to anyone in particular, but to the camera. Not that I’m against making fun of geeks, but such an unoriginal and unfunny approach just set him up to be called out. When he finally did approach someone in line, the whole thing got a little more awkward. Kudos to the guy in line for making Spillman look even more stupid. [Eric Appel]

A Monster List of Things Monster Cable Will Soon Sue

4:39AM May 28, 2008 | Jason Chen

Of all the things Monster Cable has sued because their names are too similar, a mini golf company seemed like a line even they wouldn’t cross. We were wrong. Looking back at their history, founder Noel Lee & Co. have sued Disney for Monsters, Inc., Bally Gaming for Monster Slots slot machines, the people who make Monster Energy drinks, and the Chicago Bears, because their nickname is “Monsters of the Midway.” Why stop here, Monster? We’ve got a whole list of people and things you should sue because you think your customers are too stupid to know the difference! Among them: Hillary Clinton, a deity, a baseball wall and a cartoon.

Why The System Is F%^ked – Channel 9 Wins Appeal Against IceTV

Flag
10:59AM May 9, 2008 | Nick Broughall

Why on earth is this still going on? I thought it was finished last year.

Here’s an idea Channel 9: Pull your fucking head out of your ass and stop wasting precious resources trying to screw over IceTV in the courts, and instead focus that money on some more quality programming.

According to the IceTV blog: Chief Justice Black, Justice Lindgren, Justice Sackville have together ruled against IceTV and the Federal Court’s previous judgment in the case originally brought against IceTV in May 2006, by the Nine Network regarding an alleged breach of Nine’s copyright.

Forgive my cynicism, but it’s almost like these judges must want this to just keep going on so they can collect their million dollar salaries and buy themselves a third 72-foot yacht each.

Daniel_K, Creative Fixer-Upper, Responds to Corporate Shunning

6:50AM April 2, 2008 | Adam Frucci

Remember Daniel_K, the good guy who took it upon himself to fix Creative’s craptastic Vista drivers and ended up getting threatened with legal action as thanks for his work? Well, he’s spoken out, and he’s not happy about Creative’s dickish treatment of him.

Hackers Attack Epileptics Forum With Snow Crash-like Seizure Inducing GIFs

8:30AM March 30, 2008 | Gizmodo US Edition

For currently unknown reasons, several internet griefers decided to screw with epileptics last weekend by posting flashing and multicolored images in a support forum run by the nonprofit Epilepsy Foundation. About three percent of epileptics are photosensitive, which means that the flashing lights and colours can trigger migraines or seizures. Way to go, assholes.
