The Newton, like the forthcoming tablet, was introduced with expectations that it would revolutionise personal computing. Apple’s then-chairman noted, “It has been said that Apple either walks on water or it sinks.” That was after the Newton, well, sank.
2009 was a good year for gadgets. But I’m hoping 2010 will be even better. Here’s my most wanted list for next year:
According to DigiTimes, Asus is building a “4- to 7-inch panel…which will offer a combination of tablet PC and MID functions.” And given Asus’ experience in cheap portables (inventing netbooks, remember?), the plan could be a perfect fit. [DigiTimes]
It may be a case of Apple simply protecting its brand name, but in light of all the Apple tablet rumours, we’re treating its recent purchase of the “TabletMac” trademark as yet more evidence stacking up in our favour.
