Apple's Chatswood Store To Open This Saturday
Posted by Nick Broughall at 9:08 AM on August 4, 2008
The store will open to the public at 9am this Saturday the 9th of August.
The invite doesn't actually specify whether or not they'll have any iPhones in stock at the new store, or whether they expect the same sort of crowds they got from the Sydney Store (or whether they're giving away a free T-shirt this time either).
The media event is at 8am on Saturday morning. What do you guys think - should I go? 8am is an early start for a Saturday, especially since I live on the opposite side of Sydney. So I put it to you the reader: Should Giz AU attend the Chatswood Apple Store opening? Let me know and why in the comments section...

We literally have no further information other than what you see in the image above, but either way, it's a very interesting photo even if it might be a fake. It makes sense that whatever huge display is running off a Windows XP machine—many giant displays do. What's also interesting in the photo are the cops (are they cops?) manning the line with fire extinguishers in case one of the Beijingnese Apple customers gets outta line. [Thanks Chris!]
More bad news from the iPhone 3G
The line outside of the Apple store on 59th street in NYC is definitely an event. There are about 100 people wrapped around the block, patiently waiting for the iPhone 3G. We'll be up all night checking out the scene and talking to the diehards who can't wait to get their hands on the new phone. We've got games, blankets, and provisions (liquid and food), so if you're in town, stop by and say "Hi". Otherwise, keep checking back to see all of the madness going on—you never know what could happen. Update: Greg Packer showed up!
The 8AM times previously mentioned as the iPhone 3G sale time applied only to
Those visiting Apple stores later today won't be able to buy the iPhone 3G, but at least they'll be able to check it out in Jumbotron form. Here's the iPhone 3G in its official capacity as an unusable giant Apple store display, which according to our sources will be on show floors today. And if you look really closely at the picture, you can just make out clouds parting in the background and a glorious ray of light shining onto the giant device. Glory be.

Jim Dougan wanted to install an Airport Card in his wife's MacBook. He realised that a normal screwdriver wouldn't open the case to allow him to do so. A Google search would have shown him that he required a Torx Wrench #8. He did not make a Google search. Instead, he made a fool out of himself in the Apple Store, yelling and screaming at the Genius Bar employees. He was clearly in the wrong, but to make himself feel better and get internet sympathy, he
