Don't Forget! You Could Win An iPhone 3G From iWorld Australia

Australian Post Posted by Nick Broughall at 9:56 AM on July 18, 2008

iphone3g_home.jpg

Yesterday I wandered past the Sydney Apple Store, and was shocked to see a queue of people lined up outside the store, still hoping to get their hands on an iPhone 3G. For a moment I thought about joining them, but then I remembered our competition with iWorld Australia.

You see, the guys from iWorld have generously offered Giz AU readers the chance to win their very own iPhone 3G. It will be a 16GB black model, and it will be completely unlocked, so you can stick it on any carrier you want, including 3.

The competition will end on July 31, and all you need to do to enter is hit the link, fill in your details and pick the accessory you'd most be interested in. It's got to be the easiest iPhone comp out there.

So, forget about lining up and start entering competitions - it's the easiest and cheapest way to get your new iPhone 3G.

Why Don't You Want To Win A Nokia?

Australian Post Posted by Nick Broughall at 4:41 PM on July 15, 2008

There's only three full working days left that you can win a Nokia N78 from Giz AU. We gave one away last week, and this week we're doing it again. It's not hard to win - all you need to do is answer one little question in 25 words or less - pretty simple, huh?

Just go here to the original post and answer the question in the comments section. Then, on Friday afternoon, I'll pick the best answer. The person who wrote it will have a new Nokia N78. And it could be you. So go on - enter now!

Win Another Nokia N78 On Giz AU

Australian Post Posted by Nick Broughall at 10:25 AM on July 14, 2008

03_NokiaN78.jpg

Wow! The iPhone hysteria has been a bit insane this past week, hasn't it? Well, to try and counter the madness, we're giving away another Nokia N78 to one lucky reader. Last week's winner was Jon, who make me chuckle with his line about two tins and string - what can I say, I was overtired!

This week, we've got another N78 to give away thanks to Nokia. But this time, the question's a little bit tougher: In 25 words or less, we need you to tell us: "What's the best way you would make use of the integrated GPS functionality on the new Nokia N78?". Answers in comments to this post - I'll be judging this one on Friday at 5pm.

So start entering! This is your last chance at N78 greatness!

Gizmodo and Kotaku at E3 2008

Posted by Jason Chen at 7:56 AM on July 12, 2008

Not only does Monday mark the start of the week where you can wave your new iPhone 3Gs around in your coworkers' faces, it's the start of (what used to be) the biggest video game event of the year: E3. We'll be there with Kotaku, and by extension, you'll be there. There are a ton of hardware rumours this year like Xbox 360 motion controllers, and so Monday we'll be at Microsoft and their press event which we will bring to you live the same way we do our Apple Liveblogs. On Tuesday, we'll be covering Nintendo and Sony. Don't miss it and remember to check Kotaku and their pre-E3 title coverage.

Sick Of iPhone? Why Not Win A Nokia?

Australian Post Posted by Nick Broughall at 10:32 AM on July 11, 2008

Are you sick of all the iPhone stories over the past 48 hours (I know I'm starting to get there)? Then why not enter our awesome comp to win a Nokia N78. Just hit the jump, answer the question in the comments section (of that post - not this one) and you could be calling your iPhone-toting mates on a phone that has never been linked to Jesus. Which is a good thing in my books...

Screw The iPhone - Win A Nokia N78!

Australian Post Posted by Nick Broughall at 12:29 PM on July 9, 2008

03_NokiaN78.jpg

Screw the iPhone. Screw the networks. Hell, screw everyone. Except your friends at Gizmodo, that is. In case you've forgotten, we're giving away a Nokia N78 this week. It's an awesome little phone - I've got a review unit sitting here charging in front of me that I'm going to put through its paces. But you can do the same thing if you enter this comp.

All you need to do is go back to the original post here. Then answer the question in 25 words or less. Remember that - it's 25 words or less, people... go over and you miss out. And don't enter in this post - you won't get anywhere...

I'll be judging this one on Friday (although we have another one to give away next week). Try and make me laugh, and you might not need to queue up for a new iPhone - we could be sending you a new N78 instead.

Win One Of Two Nokia N78 SmartPhones on Giz AU

Australian Post Posted by Nick Broughall at 1:19 PM on July 7, 2008

03_NokiaN78.jpg

Let's face it: Nokia release so many phones that sometimes you just get overwhelmed by the sheer weight of new models hitting the market. And as the tech elite, many of the lower-end phones that they sell to people like your Nanna just don't interest you.

But when Nokia do a high-end phone well, they do it really well. Like the N78, for example. This piece of black art doesn't feature a whole heap of buttons, instead opting for a touch-sensitive surface with raised ridges to give you some feedback. And depending on which function you're using, the keys will change, making it easy to take photos, listen to music and use the phone. At least in theory - we've got one sitting at our desk that we're about to crack open to review.

At the same time that we're excited by the potential of this phone, you should be excited by the potential of winning one. You see, the guys at Nokia have generously given us two of these gorgeous handsets to giveaway to Giz readers.

We're going to give one away each week for the next two weeks. If you want one, you'll need to tell us in 25 words or less: "Which feature of the new Nokia N78 do you think is the best and why?" Pop your entries in the comments section below.

If you need some guidance, check out this post for ideas. While you're busy pondering the best use of 25 words to win (I'll give you a hint - I like to be entertained), I'll be playing around with an N78 here to give you a full review in the coming week or so.

So what are you waiting for?

Check Out Our New Design

Australian Post Posted by Nick Broughall at 4:18 PM on July 3, 2008

You've probably already noticed, but Gizmodo AU has a great new design which launched today. We're still working out a few unexpected bugs, so bear with us if it's not 100 percent perfect and rest easy in the knowledge that it soon will be.

Feel free to let us know what you think of the new design in the comments. And if you like it, please join me in an impromptu, completely random standing ovation for our IT guy Kaan - he's been working on this redesign for months at the same time as keeping all our sites growing strong. I swear, the guy must see the world in code. Good work Kaan!
