Nexus One users who have been feeling increasingly concerned about their place near the top of the Android food chain can breathe easier; the FRF72 Froyo build for Nexus One has leaked out of its cup and onto the internet.
Lest your Droid fall out of date, into disrepair, and end up on a Jawa Sandcrawler, MyDroidWorld is serving up a new Android 2.2 ROM, along with full instructions, for bringing your phone up to speed. Apparently it’s got everything except for Wi-Fi, so if you’re hankering for that Froyo, it’s well worth a look. As always, proceed with caution; there’s nothing worse than a dead Droid. What a pleasant surprise. TechCrunch’s MG Siegler went to plug in his Nexus One last night and, lo and behold, he found an unexpected Froyo treat waiting for him. Not all Nexus One users are seeing the bump yet, but it does seem that Google’s starting to roll out the Android 2.2 update on its own phone first. Figures.
