Between the Motorola Backflip and the HTC Aria, AT&T hasn’t exactly been leading the charge on Android phones. But the Samsung Captivate, coming in the next few months, signals that the carrier is finally getting serious about Android.

We’ve seen leaked pics and specs for HTC’s latest touchscreen Android phone, but AT&T just made it official.
It appears some people are still using Plurk, that Twitter rival from a couple of years ago. HTC is one of them, with their corporate account confirming that GSM HTC Heros will be getting the Android 2.1 update today. This comes after HTC pushed the update out to CDMA Heros the other week, with Sprint customers getting lucky on May 19th. [AndroidAndMe]
As per the usual chain of events, spy shots lead to real products – in this case, the Motorola Flipout. Running Android 2.1, it comes in a quirky little swivel-design similar to the Kin One.
Time to get excited about Acer’s phone offerings. The Stream will be running Android 2.1 when it goes on sale, though it’ll also include a “brand new” UI, said to be a “stunningly fluid 3D” skin.
