Hear The World’s Prettiest 8-Bit Violin Playing You A Sad Song

I don’t really care why Ranjit Bhatnagar decided to start building a new musical instrument each and every day – I just care about the fact that he built a delightful 8-bit violin recently.

Pixelfari: Sometimes You Just Want To View The Web In 8 Bits

The web browser didn’t really exist during the halcyon days of 8-bit graphics. But if it did it would probably look something like Pixelfari, which makes all your web pages look chunky and pixelated. It’s available as a free OS X download here. [Neven Mrgan]

The Woz Gets His 8-Bit Bust Too

Steve Wozniak. Computing legend, electronics genius, master prankster, Segway jockey, amateur dancer and just a cool dude. He got his own 8-bit bust, matching Darth Steve’s. If both were together in a museum, the plaque would say Yin and Yang.

I Really Want To Eat A Koopa Steak

Graphic chef and artist Jude Buffum has prepared these images showing the meat cuts of 8-bit video game beasts. I’m dying for a Koopa porterhouse steak. Rare, please, with a side of fries. But before that, I want some sushi appetisers:

This Adorable Pocket Synth Will Make You An 8-Bit Legend

If I had one of these Pocket Piano synthesisers, I would just roam the streets playing it without a care – much like the dudes in this video. It’s quite beautiful (those wooden buttons!), sounds great and is handmade.

8-Bit ZX Spectrum Gaming Emulator Arrives On The iPhone

If you’ve not heard of the ZX Spectrum, you’re either American or were born on the wrong side of 1990. Or both! Never mind, though, because you can experience what Brits grew up playing in the ’80s on this $1.19 app.

Fanboys, Time To Get Your Very Own 8-Bit Steve Jobs Bust

Come on. You know you want it. I dare you. It’s only a fraction of the price of your spankylala Macbook Pro. And unlike your iPhone 4, you can hold it and caress it in any way you want.

The Incident Is Gaming’s Most Charming Vision Of The Apocalypse

Borrowing the simple joy of the 8-bit era at its finest, The Incident is a wonderful take on casual iOS gaming. A nostalgic, chipper soundtrack, wonderfully bright graphics, gameplay that’s perfect for several-minute stretches and an extremely disturbing premise.

Please, Somebody Make These Beautiful HTML5 Animations Into A Game

Maybe it is because I’m a sucker for old-school ’90s graphic adventures, but I love these just for what they are: Beautiful 8-bit cycling animations made using HTML5. They’re so good that someone should write a game around them.
