Microsoft’s “Falcon” Xbox 360 Is Here. Kind of.

11:10AM September 29, 2007 | Yuri Baranovsky

If you’re like us, you’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Microsoft’s “Falcon” Xbox 360s, well, now they’re here. Apparently. The guys over at the Xbox official forums have noticed that the Halo edition 360s may just be the Falcons we’ve all dreamed about. The Falcon Xbox 360, by the way, has a 65nm CPU and is supposed to run cooler and, ideally, not die after three days, which is a nice change. The posters in the forums have torn theirs apart to show you what the innards of a Falcon may look like. Hit the link below to check out the pics. [Xbox Forums] More »

Carl Lewis Vibro-Exerciser Violently Vibrates the Fat Right Off Of You

10:20AM September 29, 2007 | Yuri Baranovsky

If there’s one person in this world who has the skill and experience needed to build a wildly vibrating exercise machine, it’s famed Olympian Carl Lewis. Mr. Lewis has just released a machine called the Vibro-Exerciser, which supposedly uses your “subconscious muscle responses” to help reduce fat and improve circulation. The $283 machine is supposed to work 70% better than regular ol’ exercise, except that, well, it probably doesn’t work at all. But then again, I know very little about giant vibrators. Ecostrip Saves Energy, Polar Bears

9:55AM September 29, 2007 | Yuri Baranovsky

We all have to pitch in to save the Earth from slowly burning to death – luckily, now we can — one power strip at a time. The USB Ecostrip is a power strip that connects to your computer via a USB cable. When the strip senses that your computer is off, it’ll turn everything else off as well — meaning, monitor, speakers, and whatever other delicious toys you’ve got plugged in, will be stopped from wasting precious, precious energy.

The device is set to come to the US soon (we don’t quite know how soon yet) for $34.95. Easy, simple and probably a good way to save some money on the electric bill, the Ecostrip is, if nothing else, a good way to pitch in and maybe indirectly save a polar bear. [EverythingUSB via SciFi] More »

C-Quester’s CQ-2 Personal Submarine Seats Two Humans, One Dolphin

12:10PM September 28, 2007 | Yuri Baranovsky

Nothing quite impresses a girl like an underwater cruise for two in the CQ-2 submarine. Debuted by C-Quester at Monte Carlo, the CQ-2 is a fully electric 2-seater submarine that runs on 36V electric motors and that can last roughly two and a half hours per 14-hour charge. Able to travel 15 feet below the surface while maintaining cabin pressure at one atmosphere, the CQ-2 makes underwater travelling surprisingly easy.

Still, the company requires a mandatory four to six day course that teaches the buyer everything from navigation to weather systems to how to avoid killing a sea turtle. Priced at a quarter million dollars, the sub is aimed more at the Richard Branson types, rather than, sadly, your average Gizmodo writer. [Gizmag] More »

Google Earth Helps Spot Swastika-Shaped Building

11:20AM September 28, 2007 | Yuri Baranovsky

Google Earth is once again changing the world — or, more specifically, they’re changing the way swastika-shaped buildings are built. The Navy is spending upwards of $600,000 to modify a 40-year-old barracks that, when viewed by satellite imaging programs like Windows Live and Google Earth, looks like a giant swastika. It’s nice that the world has the ever-vigilant Google Earth watchers to monitor the shape of our buildings, otherwise we’d end up spending $600,000 dollars on something worthwhile, like making California’s TransAmerica building look less like a giant penis. 10:40AM September 28, 2007 | Yuri Baranovsky

Hello Kitty Bluetooth Headphones So Cute They’ll Make You Vomit

10:15AM September 28, 2007 | Yuri Baranovsky

The world will end with neither a bang nor a whimper, it will end with a pair of Hello Kitty Bluetooth wireless headphones. Sanrio’s Hello Kitty earphones, specifically advertised to enhance your music and video gaming experience, will set you back $135 (15,750 Yen). I definitely wouldn’t mind a pair of wireless headphones — I do, however, mind the overly cute kitty on the front. Still, the gadget makes a pretty good, if expensive, gift for the overly effeminate girlfriend. [KittyHell] More »

Rainbow Machine Lights Up Room, Sadly Doesn’t Include Pot of Gold

12:50PM September 26, 2007 | Yuri Baranovsky

Nothing quite lights up a room like the Discovery’s Rainbow In My Room — it’s also one of the best leprechaun-catching tools available on the market. Using LED lights, the gadget creates a prismatic rainbow arc on your wall or on your ceiling. It uses a motion sensor that turns the rainbow on and off when you’re near, and an automatic shut-off assures that you won’t over-rainbow your room. For sale for $30 dollars and available early October, it’s the cheapest way to achieve faux happiness without moisture and white light. [Discovery via SciFi] More »

Wind-Up Concept Lamp as Designed by Minnie Mouse

11:25AM September 26, 2007 | Yuri Baranovsky

While the Wind-Up lamp may make your room faintly reminiscent of Minnie Mouse’s bedroom, it is both ecological and useful. The lamp is powered mainly by a spring-driven generator, which uses a high carbon tensile steel spring that, when it unwinds, transfers power to a tiny electric generator that then powers the light.

As the giant, cartoony screw winds down, it acts as a timer that will eventually turn your light off — saving precious electricity long after you’ve fallen asleep. The lamp is a concept design by Yuko Taguchi and isn’t currently on sale anywhere but the back alleys of Disneyland. [RedFerret via SciFi] More »

Toilet Tunes Adds Soundtrack To Your Bathroom Activities

10:20AM September 26, 2007 | Yuri Baranovsky

If your own, strange bathroom sounds startle and horrify you, Toilet Tunes is like a urine-drenched super-hero, ready to please. The gadget uses a sensor installed in the toilet lid that will play six musical choices when the lid is raised and that will make your trip to the bathroom that much more like a scene from Dirty Dancing.

The musical choices include rain, waves, jazz, latin, modern, and appropriately, stream. The sensor uses 3 AAA batteries and is easy to install (just stick it on the lid using the adjesive backing). The gadget itself will set you back $29.98, which is a small price to pay to avoid your own bodily functions. [FindGift via NerdApproved] More »
