Do you even have 32 rooms in your home?

Touted as the ultimate multiroom wireless system for music lover’s, the MusicCAST2 supports iTunes AAC files as well as MP3s, WMA, FLAC, and WAV, and can playback music from iPods, Bluetooth devices and other Yamaha accessories—via a built-in dock port—and USB thumb drives. It can also pull audio from a variety of sources, including Rhapsody, Internet radio, both PC and Macs, and NAS devices.

First introduced to the market six or seven years ago when the release of a wireless music platform was highly anticipated, the original MusicCAST was a server and satellite system that promised an awful lot at a time when networking technology wasn’t very good, so the release of a successor—the MusicCAST2—comes as a surprise to us.

When you go to bed, the Zeo requires you to wear a wireless headband that is able to read your brainwaves, then magically transmit the data back to an SD card hidden in your clock. In the morning, you can then transfer the findings into your PC, then upload the results to Zeo online, which will then give you a diagnostic of how well you sleep at night, and suggestions of what you can do to improve that sleep. Or I can just tell you why you can’t sleep at night—it’s either because of the never ending abundance of porn, or that uncomfortable headband, pressing down on your forehead, strangling your brain and messing up your hair. PCWorld managed to get their hands on one and report back with their first impressions.

Samsung’s Galaxy is a 11.9 millimeter-slim handset that features a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen and 5-megapixel camera, and also comes equipped with GPS, Wi-Fi and and WCDMA support. Even more, the phone calls attention to the haptic feedback on its virtual keyboard, which is a first for a major touchscreen smartphone.

Because the AMOLED screen reportedly draws less power than the iPhone’s TFT-LCD screens do, the Galaxy apparently has a longer battery life, making this—coupled with the haptic feedback—more mainstream-consumer friendly for those who have yet to purchase a smartphone. Although pricing and release dates are not finalised, the Galaxy will supposedly be available in Europe by the end of this month, and the rest of the world in the second half of 2009.

Using sound lasers as a means of crowd control isn’t new, but never until now has one been able to create sounds reaching terahertz frequencies—and now it has a name: Saser.

Signaling the dawn of the true saser era, physicists from the UK and Ukrain have broken the terahertz sound barrier produced using a sound laser. Unlike lasers that shoot photons in a tight, beam of light, sasers are able to emit dispersed vibrations in high frequences of sound waves, creating nausea and confusion when used on humans. As of now, the latest and most powerful Saser has proven to be able to produce phonons—some quantum-level measurement of vibration that could (one day) be used to cure cancer or shoot enemies, among other things—in distant objects. These early tests of the Saser reveal its potential of one day being able to make someone explode, from the inside out, using just a handful of terahertz—similar to what would happen to your brain at a Hannah Montana concert. [New Scientist]

Although BlueLounge’s StudioDesk doesn’t exactly organise your cables, it features a slide-out desktop surface that allows you to hide your cable clutter in a hidden compartment—kind of like shoving all your junk under the bed.

Most cable-tamers we’ve seen manage to untangle wires and keep them somewhat organized, but these gizmos lying around on our desks also tend to add to the clutter. With the $US600 StudioDesk, there’s no need for external cable organizers because it completely conceals all of the wires—except for one—connected to your laptop. Now if only they can figure out how to hide cables snaking down your wall.
