Orange Pulls BlackBerry Bold Over Quality Concerns

7:26AM Sean Fallon | According to a leaked memo obtained by Mobile Tech Addicts, UK based mobile phone carrier Orange have pulled the BlackBerry Bold off of their shelves temporarily citing quality issues with the device. What specific issues they are referring to are unknown, but Orange claims they are awaiting solutions from RIM and plan to have the device back on shelves in “a couple of weeks.” As you probably already know, the US debut of the Bold has been pushed back repeatedly—perhaps these issues have something to do with the delay over here as well. BlackBerry Bold Review

4:15AM Matt Buchanan | If you were feverishly anticipating a mobile phone this year, it was one of two phones: the iPhone 3G or this phone. BlackBerry Bold Hitting AU Mid-August on Telstra, Optus and Vodafone

6:36PM Nick Broughall | RIM held the official Australian launch of BlackBerry Bold today. Considering that we’ve seen it all before, there wasn’t too much to come out of the event, except that it will officially be launched on Telstra, Vodafone and Optus, starting mid-August. 3 is apparently also testing the device, although whether they’ll release it is still yet to be seen. As far as pricing goes, the networks are all still pretty quiet on what they’ll be charging – the exception is Optus, who today announced the phone will cost $10 per month on a 24-month contract when partnered with their $79 BlackBerry plan. They’ve even set up a web page dedicated for users keen enough to pre-register their interest. Touchscreen BlackBerry Thunder Is BlackBerry 9500, Has Higher Res Screen Than iPhone

8:01AM Matt Buchanan | A bit more tricklage on RIM’s “Apple Killer,” the touchscreen BlackBerry Thunder: The official model number is the BlackBerry 9500, and the touchscreen is a bit higher res than the iPhone’s (360×480 to 320×480). It’ll be running OS 4.7.0 (the Bold runs 4.6). As we inch closer to the September release date expect to hear a lot more, since RIM’s ship ain’t exactly the tightest one on the seven seas.
