Catch The Awesomeness Of TDTESS On BD, Today
If ever there was an action/sci-fi film that was made for the increasingly popular BD format, the Fox blockbuster ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still’ must certainly be it. Granted, remakes of awesome 1950s flicks, starring Keanu Reeves may not float everyone’s boat, but there’s no denying the awesomeness of seeing the film’s CG special effects and explosive scenes in high definition. Along with all the standard features that are packaged into Blu-Ray disks these days, the two-disk TDTESS pack, available to rent or buy today, includes a detailed commentary on re-imagining the 1950s anti-nuke classic, “Build Your Own Gort” BD-Java game, as well as an in-depth behind-the-scenes look at the environmentally conscious film set (the film was the first step to towards the studio’s parent company News Corp.’s aim of being entirely green by next year). Of course, for those not yet caught up in the BD revolution, don’t fret; TDTESS is also available on DVD. More » Advertisement

LG’s Latest Blu-Ray Reads Like The Who’s Who Of Features
It may be 12 months since the format war was fought and won, but finally there’s a Blu-Ray player on the market that’s actually worth the hype. With its slim design and rather retro central power/play button, LG’s BD370 not only has the looks but the features to back it up. Thanks to its HDMI 1.3 connection, the BD370 can output 7.1-channel sound, as well as deliver an impressive picture quality picking up detail and vivid colour with ease. While those keen to watch DVDs on a full HD TV, will appreciate the 1080p upgrading and improved picture quality. Accepting everything from WMA to DivX files, the player is one of the most versatile on the market. Not to mention it’s fast- the BD370’s boot time of 15 seconds means you can load a title literally as the machine turns on. But perhaps the feature that most sets the BD370 apart: you can play YouTube videos, using a high-speed internet connection. It kinda makes you wonder why the feature hasn’t been done before. And at $449, it’s pretty decent value. Pretty decent indeed. More » Advertisement
