Here in Australia the only 5G phones you can currently get cost over $1,500 outright, or you need to get them on a Telstra plan that will cost you more than that in the long run.
But Samsung may just be coming to the table with a solution, at least eventually.
Rumour has it that it is working on a more affordable 5G device. Praise be.

This juicy phone gossip comes courtesy of renowned leakers Ice Universe and OnLeaks, who took to Twitter to drop the 5G A90 bomb.
Apparently there will be more than one version of the A90, both of which will have a 6.7-inch AMOLED Infinity-U displays. They will also have in-display fingerprint sensors.
One of the versions is said to have 48MP/8MP/5MP rear camera setup, with the other allegedly sporting 48MP/12MP/5MP.
Another report from Dutch website Galaxy Club has stated that the A90 will have a 32MP rear and 8MP front-facing setup, instead.
Considering the conflicting reports, and the fact that those triple rear specs seem a tad hardcore for a mid-tier phone, we’re remaining sceptical of the validity.
There is also a rumour that the A90 will get the same rotating camera that was injected into the A80, which makes the rear camera slide up and forward and negates the need for a built-in front selfie camera.

Along with the 5G news, Ice Universe also revealed that the A90 would apparently have 45w fast-charging capabilities
Galaxy R series does not exist, “Rx” is only the internal code of Galaxy A, some Leaker get the wrong information, in fact, Galaxy A90 is still Galaxy A90, it has a 5G version, using 45w fast charging.

Lastly, Galaxy Club is also reporting on a 3610 mAh battery life for the A90, which is substantially smaller than all four budget Samsung A-Series phones that are confirmed for Australia.
Sadly, the A90 is apparently only intended for the Korean market, but we have all of our fingers and toes crossed that after its tested there it (or another mid-range Samsung 5G phone) will be released in Australia.
Though it stands to reason that the first phones with the ability to connect to a faster network would be pricey, hopefully that won’t be for long. Connectivity, infrastructure and speed are things that everyone should have a right to access and anything that helps make those them more affordable is important.
