Kendrick Lamar Might Be Involved With The Black Panther Soundtrack

All the released Black Panther trailers so far have had one thing in common: incredible music. If a tease in a recent music video is any indication, that trend will continue into the film itself.

In the new video for Kendrick Lamar’s song “LOVE”, there’s a quick tease thrown in at the 1:54 mark for the attentive viewer. A shot of a film set, with the label “B. Panther Soundtrack Coming Soon” written on it, briefly appears on screen.

Kendrick Lamar Might Be Involved With The Black Panther Soundtrack

The people cutting the trailers for Black Panther have proven they have excellent taste in music, pairing footage with remixed tracks by Vince Staples, Run the Jewels, and Gil Scott-Heron, brilliantly giving the hero’s Afrocentric focus an appropriate soundscape.

If this tease is more than just a wry play by Lamar, then there’s a chance Black Panther‘s actual soundtrack could be even better then the trailer’s. Whether it’s just a song or a full collaboration on the soundtrack, netting new material from one of the best rappers working today would be a huge boon for the movie.

And, really, T’Challa deserves a banging soundtrack. The Wakandan King demands it. So here’s hoping this isn’t just a fun reference. Oh, and definitely check out the new Kendrick video if you haven’t. It rules.
