Finally. The first footage of the fifth season of Agents of SHIELD was premiered at New York Comic Con over a month ago, and now, finally, fans can catch a glimpse of what’s coming.
Marvel and ABC have released two clips: A full trailer and a thirty second spot, with overlapping but not identical footage.
If you’ve read Katharine’s recap of the NYCC footage, you already know what to expect, but the big points are easy to grasp: After season four, Coulson’s crew has found themselves in space. They don’t know how they got there, or why, or, really, what’s going on. There are threatening aliens, and a guy wearing a suspicious Peter Quill getup who definitely isn’t Peter Quill.
Really, it all sounds very stressful. As Coulson puts it, when someone suggests he’s here to save the day: “Just to clarify: where is here, who is us, and from what?”
I hope these guys and gals get some paid time off one of these days. They deserve it.
I’m not an expert on Marvel ephemera, so I’ll refrain from speculating, but there’s a lot to think about. What are the Kree up to? What’s that quadripedal alien monster? And who’s the dude in the mask? Share your theories in the comments, and watch the footage below.
