Don’t Get Too Excited About The Latest Rumours Around Superman’s Justice League Costume

Justice League

Remember when Henry Cavill trolled the internet by teasing that Superman could return with the infamous black-and-silver costume he briefly wore post-resurrection in the comics? Well, it’s time for those rumours to start up again.

This time, however, it’s thanks to a Reddit user’s pictures of the upcoming figures in the Justice League toyline, the second wave of which features Henry Cavill’s Superman clad in an all-black number. But, as we’ve pointed out many times before, movie toys are not particularly a trusty source when it comes to spoilers, so take this with a Krypton-sized pinch of salt for now. [Heroic Hollywood]

Avengers: Infinity War/Avengers 4

Speaking of costumes, get a look at Ant-Man’s modernised, updated suit from Avengers 4 (and presumably Infinity War), courtesy of a new video from the set encouraging fans to donate to charity in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

Pinocchio

Speaking with Cinefilos, Guillermo del Toro teased he’s working on an “anti-fascist” stop-motion take on Pinocchio with Over the Garden Wall creator Patrick McHale.

The Shape of Whater

Speaking of del Toro — and not anti-fascist Pinocchios — here’s the first clip from the director’s latest interspecies romance movie.

Aquaman

Ludi Lin, who plays the Atlantean warrior Murk, likened James Wan’s Aquaman to “Star Wars underwater”:

The thing is, there is so much about Aquaman that I have seen so far in filming… there’s so much to this film. The difference between Aquaman and the other superheroes in the DC Universe, is that it exists almost in a different world. James Wan, our director, is amazing. He’s described his vision as “Star Wars underwater” because it is! All the physics are different, their weapons are different, the characters are very unique. It’s just super cool.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Speaking with the Associated Press, Mark Hamill discussed his reservations about returning to the role of Luke Skywalker — namely that Rian Johnson’s plans for Luke were “unclear”.

A thing that felt maybe wrong about coming back was the fact that the original trilogy had a beginning, a middle and an end. But there’s two ways of looking at that. On the one hand, it had closure. But if you look at it another way, it’s the story of how Luke went from becoming a farm boy to a Jedi and then the story ends. It would be like telling the story of how James Bond got his licence to kill and became 007, and the story ends.

[Luke being a different person in the new trilogy] is what really fascinated me. Between “Return of the Jedi” and “Force Awakens,” there’s just decades of history that’s unknown. So I was wondering how they’re going to handle all this. Now, obviously, with “Force Awakens,” J.J. (Abrams) had a full plate. It was inevitable that they would push me down the line. I was sorry I wasn’t able to work with any of the original actors again. But it’s not about us anymore. In this new one, I was saying to Rian Johnson: I need to know my backstory. It was kind of unclear. You read where he is now and what he’s doing now and sort of have to fill in the blanks for yourself. So I did do a backstory myself. It’s not about Luke anymore, so it’s not really important. But I had to make sense of it for myself. What Rian came up with, I was stunned.

Meanwhile, if you were hoping yesterday’s “Force Friday II” hysteria would unleash new secrets and spoilers from the movie, Rian Johnson took to Twitter to note that a lot of major new details from the film have been explicitly kept out of the new Star Wars toys revealed yesterday:

Legends of Tomorrow

Courtney Ford will recur in season three as Damian Dahrk’s daughter, Eleanor. Entertainment Weekly describes the character as “cunning, with a charming dose of otherworldly creepiness”.

Cara Delevigne has joined the cast of Amazon’s fantasy series as the fairy Vignette Stonemoss, a refugee who flees her war-torn home village, only to meet prejudice in the “neo-Victorian” city of Burgue. [Deadline]
